They evaluate all aspects of occupational safety at the Newark Compounding facility: exposure to physical, chemical, and biological hazards. This role operates under the guidance of the HSEQ Manager using a continual improvement approach to enhance the occupational safety program by identifying/mitigating new hazards, improving engineering/administrative controls and PPE around existing hazards, and educating employees. This role partners with the Pittsburgh medical experts to maintain all aspects associated with the medical monitoring program, including coordination of health, hearing, respiratory fit testing, and drug screenings. As the HSE Specialist, you are responsible for investigation and reporting of occupational safety/industrial hygiene related incidents, including required regulatory reporting and serve as the site SME for OSHA and Ohio BWC regulations as well as occupational safety/industrial hygiene related CoRe Directives.Major ResponsibilitiesServes as the Site Pandemic coordinatorSite point of contact for all corporate heath related initiatives (i.e. MTWB)Medical monitoring program:Coordinate the planning and scheduling related to required annual health screenings for employeesCoordinate the planning and completion of required hearing testing for employeesCoordinate the planning and completion of respiratory fit testing for employeesCoordinate the planning and completion of required random drug screeningEnsure that any findings or medical issues related to exposure to chemicals are appropriated documented and reportedAct as the HSEQ contact for reasonable suspicion/incident related testingEnsure that HIPPA regulations related to the above are followedSafety/IH related incident investigation and reporting:Ensure proper reporting of first aid/recordable injury related incidentsServe as the lead investigator for any chemical exposure, first-aid, or recordable injury related incidentsIdentify and guide the implementation of corrective actions associated with Safety/IH related incidentsChemical/biological Exposure Safety:Reviews new raw materials from an IH/TSCA standpointResponsible for reviewing legionella testing results and making recommendations for any positive test resultsEnsures compliance with HAZCOM programPlans and conducts all required exposure monitoring as well as proactive exposure monitoringMakes recommendations & communicates PPE requirements related to exposure monitoringMakes recommendations related to engineering controls to reduce chemical exposure riskEnsures continual improvement related to chemical exposure safetyPhysical Exposure Safety:Conducts ergonomic reviews and makes recommendations for improvements related to work areas/specific tasksmake recommendations & communicate PPE requirements related to physical risksmake recommendations related to engineering and/or administrative controls to help mitigate risksEnsures continual improvement related to physical safetyRegulatory:Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation (BWC) and OSHA related reporting requirements (i.e. OSHA 300 log)Act as a subject matter expert for Ohio BWC, OSHA, or Ohio Department of Health compliance inspectionsAdministrative:Responsible for the maintenance of any HSEQ procedures related to aboveAids in identification of training requirements and development of training r
