Job Description:
Summary:The person in this position will work on projects that further develop ourenvironmental practice, specifically contaminated site assessment,remediation, and reclamation and closure capabilities in the IntermountainWest. The primary clientele this person will work with are in the miningsector, with opportunities in the oil and gas, power, and publicsectors. Project work may include collaborating with and coordinatingmultidisciplinary teams; preparing reports for regulatory submission(e.g., investigation reports, permit applications, managementplans); preparing technical work plans and cost estimates forinvestigations of mine waste, contaminated soil, sediment,groundwater, and surface water; interpreting data; conductingremediation technology evaluations and feasibility studies; developingremediation, reclamation, and closure plans; preparing technicalreports; and coordinating site remediation and reclamation activities.Additionally, the selected candidate will be involved in client andregulatory communication, mentor junior staff, and will be responsible forfina
Typical business-development activities will include building and maintainingclient relationships, tracking marketing leads and project opportunities,developing proposals and presentations, networking, and sharing Barr'scapabilities with existing and potential clients.
Fulfillment of this positions responsibilities may require periodic travelwithin the United States and potentially Canada.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, civil engineering,geological engineering or related field
Five or more years of relevant work experience
Registered as a Professional Engineer (PE) or eligible to becomeregistered within a year
Understanding application of environmental quality guidelines to datacollected from various environmental media and land uses
Technical knowledge of the federal and state environmental regulations andprograms related to environmental site assessments, environmentalregulations, mine waste regulations, and site remediation and treatmenttechnologies
Excellent communication and technical report writing skills
Demonstrated client-relationship and interest in growing business developmentskills
Demonstrated effectiveness in building working relationships and participatingin multidiscipline teams
Demonstrated task management and organization skills
A flexible working style and willingness to modify personal schedule asrequired to meet project deadlines and/or client needs
Willingness to travel for project and business development purposes
Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need forsponsorship
Acceptable driving record
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree in environmental engineering or related field
Ten or more years of relevant work experience
Demonstrated project management and business development success
Experience or interest in heap leach piles, tailings and mine rock stockpilemanagement, environmental risk assessment, soil salvage, mine closureand reclamation, and/or land use planning.
Currently registered as a PE in Utah, Colorado, Minnesota or neighboring state
Established network with mining or other industrial clients and the ability todevelop or foster ongoing relationships and maintain a high level of clientservice
A hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid workarrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a homeoffice. This position can be based out of Barr's Salt Lake City, UT;Denver, CO; Hibbing, MN; Duluth, MN; or Minneapolis, MN offices.
Colorado Applicants Only:Compensation:The anticipated base salary range for this position is$75,000-$100,000/year. Compensation will vary based uponexperience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors Employees in this position may also be eligible for a discretionary cashbonus. Our compensation comes in more ways than traditional base salary, andwe believe that when all those elements are combined, our compensation is acompetitive part of the total value proposition of working at Barr.
