  About the Role

  Under the leadership of the Environmental Compliance & Standards Manager, be part of a team which ensures best practice in environmental management systems and compliance are embedded across our business. Improve performance on regulatory compliance to reduce the risk of reputational damage, financial and non-monetary sanctions:

  Manage governance risk for Diageo Supply Chain and Procurement. Codify the process. Plan and develop risk performance, standards and capabilities to improve market / site(s) scorecard targets.Minimise risk of harm to reputation through not meeting stakeholder requirements (internal and external)

  Responsible for the overall global assurance of management systems, standards, procedures, and controls to confirm compliance with applicable regulatory and legal requirements as well as ensuring good business practices.

  You will be responsible for:

  Best Practice documentation for local environmental management: develop, implement & continuously assure best practice documentation required to facilitate management of local environmental risk within the manufacturing footprint.Internal KPIs and global reporting: develop and track metrics to measure progress against compliance targets and milestones, building an internal tiered reporting framework for environmental management and compliance which manages global and market formal risk analysis, planning and mitigation.Incident & non-compliance reporting: develop governance processes for incident and non-compliance reporting to ensure rapid response and escalation to senior stakeholders to help minimise environmental impacts, reputational damage and financial losses.External reporting: develop and own reporting processes to ensure that Diageo has complete and accurate reporting of incidents and non-compliances.Develop & manage a compliance data management system to ensure market identification, capture, tracking, verification and auditing to all environmental regulatory compliance requirements. Support and maintain Diageo control management system.Support Compliance assurance to permits and regulations through a schedule of regulatory compliance audits. Act as Environment subject matter expert to support assurance audits as requiredExternal accreditation: Work with key external and internal partners to improve performance to external accreditation (ISO 14001 & 50001 standards) across all relevant sitesMergers/Acquisitions and expansions: Provide environmental subject matter expertise to support business commercial growth preparations for Mergers/Acquisitions and expansionsLead key Improvement and transformation compliance programmes and, for developing markets, lead maturity programmes to develop market capability in environmental management.Ensure market stakeholder credibility through operationalised clear roadmaps that deliver against key milestone targets and longer-term goals.Coach and lead on environmental management systems to internal stakeholders on meeting Diageo standards, targets and capabilities.Ensure compliance with environmental legislation. Monitor and interpret new/changing Environmental current in each Jurisdiction ensuring the requirements are captured in our legal register, communicated effectively and implemented into our management systems.Drive company-wide Environmental training program to ensure that all compliance, data management systems and other appropriate training requirements are fully identified, delivered and recorded.Co-ordinate the internal regulatory compliance audit program in line with Diageo’s environmental management system standards across the business.Communicate and share learnings/experiences with all sites across the business using an environmental incident alert process.Monitor and drive timely closure of actions agreed in response to environmental related findings, e.g. audits, incidents, regulatory visits, statutory inspections, non-conformances etc.Assist in collation, preparation and analysis of data gathered in support of Environmental compliance targets, objectives and KPI’s.Provide specialist Environmental support and assistance to operations teams at sites where required, including but not restricted to; compliance obligations; incident investigations; root cause analysis; risk assessment; corrective and preventive actions; training; etc.

  To be successful in this role, you will need:

  A proven track record in delivery of projects and change management programmes and cross-functional team working.Great engagement and communication skills, experience of coaching and influencing a range of stakeholders at all levels for successManufacturing and environmental experience in food or brewing/spirits industry.Typically educated to degree standard in a science, engineering discipline or operations qualified through relevant experience.Overall, excellent knowledge of supply chain standards and relevant legislation.Ideally an environmental professional, like IEMA, or willing to work towards equivalent professional qualifications.Strong numerical and data analysis skills. Experience with managing environmental data management systems, document control management systems and business analytics programs would be a strong advantage.
