Environmental Health & Safety Manager
ROLE SUMMARY
The EHS Manager provides Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) functional leadership and management to the Pfizer site located in Madrid Spain. Develops and implements a comprehensive EHS Program that complies with Pfizer and regulatory requirements. Acts as a program and project liaison between Pfizer Global EHS and the site and partner closely with OHW for all Health-related programs within Pfizer. Tracks environmental, Safety and biological safety compliance, monitors performance and trends, and facilitates corrective actions as required. EHS areas could include, but would not be limited to these areas: occupational safety and health; environmental management, sustainability, engineering, control and compliance; EHS regulatory permitting and compliance; loss prevention and control; industrial hygiene; radiation safety; biosafety; emergency preparedness; process safety; ergonomics; contractor and construction safety, and EHS management of new product introductions.
The Manager will cultivate and reinforce appropriate Pfizer values and behaviors, diversity and inclusion and will provide oversight to individuals and teams on professional development, performance, safety, and quality related issues.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide day-to-day managerial oversight of EHS department colleagues and contractors as they provide EHS technical support to the manufacturing site functions.Ensure site programs fully comply with environmental, health and safety (EHS) regulations, company policies and Global EHS standards. Regularly review and update site EHS programs.Assist EHS department subject matter experts to implement all applicable EHS programsImplement EHS management systems such as risk assessment, management of change, investigations, inspections/audits and training/communications.Work closely with site leadership and line management, fellow Global Operations personnel and Corporate EHS to continuously improve EHS performance, compliance, culture and Sustainability.Participate in or support key committees such as the Site EHS Committees, or network and country applicable EHS forumsManage an annual department budget for EHS and provides support to site operational expense and capital budgetsBuild a strong EHS Team and grow and develop the Team.Establish and maintain EHS training programs.Establish mechanisms to ensure proactive EHS assessment of the impact of change.Oversee EHS operational duties including regulatory permitting and reporting.Set and deliver on EHS metrics and commitments (internal and external).Oversee EHS input into capital projects throughout the lifecycle, to ensure alignment with EHS strategic plansIntegration of EHS into the Production Management System.Foster continuous improvement to enhance EHS throughout the site processes
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in an EHS discipline, engineering or similarMaster's degree H&S preferred (Safety, Industrial Hygiene and Ergonomics full program)Previous experience successfully managing/leading EHS personnelActive membership in at least one relevant professional body, ideally with a formal continuous professional development requirementExperience implementing EHS programs in a biopharma manufacturing environmentPossesses an excellent understanding of environmental, health, and safety principles, lab safety programs and best practices and key management systems such as risk assessment, management of change, inspections, audits and investigations.Ability to independently assess site risks and programs and sensitively communicate/collaborate with line management on appropriate risk measuresDemonstrated working knowledge of applicable State and Local EHS regulatory requirements.Exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skillsFluent in English and SpanishStrong verbal and written communication skillsSelf-motivated/self-starter with ability to multi-task and work effectively with minimal supervisionResponsive, customer service attitudeExcellent training and presentation skills, techniques, applications and practicesSkilled proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite including PowerPoint, Excel and Word
