Job Description
An employer in Palo Alto, CA is looking for an Engineering Technician to join their Test Systems Engineering team to work side by side with engineers to support the development of world-class drive units and energy products. Projects can be open-ended and the individual must strive in a challenging environment. Must be a self-starter and able to figure out how to do things independently. The candidate will support engineers through all aspects of test setup, execution, monitoring, reporting, and data analysis. This technician will execute motor and drive unit testing on in-house dynamometers, support R&D engineering with custom test configurations, focus on continuous improvement and 5S practices. Troubleshoot and debug electromechanical test setups. Support hardware/software set-up and test execution with minimal guidance. Monitor test system utilization and support test system resource allocation. Collecting and interpreting data from a variety of data acquisition systems. Support Root Cause Analysis on equipment and test article failures. Skills and Requirements
BS degree in ME/EE or equivalent technical field or work experience
Experience with any CAD software (catia, solidworks,etc)
Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings
3+ years demonstrated hands-on work experience in a related field/environment or amble project experience from education (with examples, ei) SAE formula)
Experience specific to data acquisition and/or troubleshooting equipment with multiple subsystems
Demonstrate mechanical aptitude -- the ability to take things apart and reassemble them without instructions.
Knowledge of electrical skills
Demonstrate a strong desire to learn and use new software/hardware Knowledge of dynamometers, electric motor/powertrain testing
Basic programming exposure (Basic C/C++, Python), interest in scripting, test automation and data analysis
