　　The Role

　　Specific to this position:

　　This position will support the O46 Utility Systems Engineering team and requires a candidate eager to learn and support various mechanical utility distribution systems across the Shipyard. The candidate will be required to develop a strong working relationship with the utility system engineers, plant operators and maintenance personnel. The candidate should have a basic understanding of piping principles and an interest in utility plant equipment, such as compressors, pumps and boilers.

　　The candidate’s day-to-day responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

　　Support the engineering and operations teams with hands-on troubleshooting of equipment and/or piping in the field.

　　Produce and modify technical documentation for utility systems, such as piping flow diagrams, P&IDs, and procedures.

　　Support field testing, such as fire protection flow tests, equipment tuning and commissioning efforts.

　　Collect technical data in the field, including piping and equipment condition, geographic/configuration information, etc.

　　Support the engineering team in the development of test reports and metrics.

　　Support the instrumentation calibration program by maintaining status and tracking documentation.

　　Support the engineering and energy teams in evaluating opportunities for system optimization and increased efficiency.

　　Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks. Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes. Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics). Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data. Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports. May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.

　　Associate's Degree and 6 years of relevant experience

　　One of the following may be used as equivalent to Associate's Degree to meet minimum qualifications:

　　NNS Apprentice School graduate

　　Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate

　　High School/GED and 2 years of related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience

　　High School/GED and 4 years of non-related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience

　　Nice to Have

　　Shipyard/Nuclear facilities experience

　　Familiarity with utility infrastructure

　　Familiarity with AutoCad and/or Inventor
