Job Summary
As a successful Engineering Manager in Comcast Global Technology & Product, you will do much more than write code, manage applications, infrastructure, tools, and people. You will be a servant leader and a technical guide of the high-impacting Identity Management and Authentication team of brilliant software engineers and architects enabling our Residential and Commercial products and services, and serving as a front door to an awesome “Comcastic” experience. The ideal candidate will be passionate technical expert, assertive and steer people together to help solve complex problems with an iterative, feedback driven approach. Responsible for managing the complete life cycle of highly complex, customer impacting, internal projects, including approval, planning, execution, and closeout to ensure planned results are achieved on time. Core Responsibilities
Hands on Manager of this team not only oversees the planning and designing of software and web applications, including new programs, enhancements, and modifications, but also steps in to help code / review pull requests to ensure pipeline is up to date and things are continuously moving through the development lifecycle.• Provides guidance to the Software Engineering team and other departments in identifying product and technical requirements by suggesting viable solutions to a given problem.
• Ensures projects are envisioned, designed, developed, and implemented following industry best practices.
• Supporting point of contact and liaison between Software Engineering and other teams (business and technical).
• Directs implementation initiatives for new software products and applications.
• Organizes software update process for existing applications and coordinates the roll-out of software releases.
• Oversees code quality, pattern adherence, and the overall maintainability of the application.
• Supports development team deliverables to ensure adherence to deadlines, specifications, and budgets.
• Implements performance metrics and prepares period reports and/or proposals.
• Monitors and tracks project progress and reports findings to leadership team.
• Evangelist for Agile methodologies.
• Evangelist for DevOps culture.
• Ensures Web solutions are well engineered, operable, maintainable, and delivered on schedule.
• Actively participates in both internal and external development communities, staying up to date on new software technologies and best practices and shares insights with others in the organization.
• Helps champion major technology transformation initiatives by implementing Proof of concept ideas and proposing it to the product and development team.
• Acts a a role model and ensure all engineers keep current with technological developments within the industry.
• Monitors current and future trends, technology and information in the web technology space that will positively affect organizational projects.
• Provides leadership and direction to department personnel from lower-level managers to non-exempt employees.
• Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
• Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.
