In this exciting role, the Engineering Manager leads and manages the team in the Wound Management Value Stream (Sutures) in our North Haven Manufacturing Site (approximately 6-8 direct reports). The individual will closely collaborate with all necessary stakeholders to discuss strategies, programs, operating issues, opportunities, and decisions, with the goal of building a strong and growing team. A Day in the Life
You will coach and provide direction for Technical Functions to advance existing technology or introduce new technology into the manufacturing processes in the Wound Management value stream in North Haven. Implement key strategic initiatives for capacity expansion, technology innovations through new capital acquisition and implementation as well as supporting Maintenance of Business activities. Problems and issues faced are difficult and will require support from cross functional subject matter experts. Navigating ambiguity and engaging support staff will be critical to your success. You will actively make improvements of processes, systems or products to enhance performance of the job area.
The Engineering Manager transforms the site strategy into a tangible reality by formulating, communicating, and executing business plans to achieve desired results. The position involves initiating programs or projects based on identified business and tactical needs, and the decisions made directly impact projects, operations, deadlines, resource allocation, funds, and the overall achievement of organizational objectives.
They will lead a team of Manufacturing and Controls Engineers in:
Manage/Coach/ Develop Manufacturing and Controls Engineers.
Lead cross-functional teams to make appropriate, timely decisions and recommendations that result in the successful completion of major organizational objectives.
Establish vendor requirements for equipment design and fabrication
Manage the testing and qualification of new production equipment.
Defining new assembly equipment requirements aligning with KPIV / KPOV and sutures device design requirements and product specifications.
This Engineering Manager will also support the site cost savings goals, capital spending commitments by quarter, manufacturing process improvements, and product line transfers. This person must be able to communicate technically with the external vendor base to support troubleshooting, supplier development programs and tooling replacement programs for capacity expansion and maintenance of business. They will work closely with internal Medtronic groups to support key initiatives and communicate with other Medtronic manufacturing sites as needed.

Career development of engineering staff
Manufacturing and Project Engineering lead for activities supporting the Sutures surgical stapling product family capacity expansion project plans.
Key participant in DFMEA, PFMEA, and CTQ processes assuring specifications are well defined and documented.
Assure production requirements are achieved for component and assembly tooling specifications, supplier selection, and qualification.
Conceptual leader for technology advances associated with tooling and process development.
Communicate and coordinate activities with multiple functional groups both within and outside of operations.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
Bachelors degree required
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
Nice to Have
Practical knowledge in leading and managing the strategy, execution of processes, projects, with respect to commercialized product design changes.
Practical knowledge of statistical techniques and software (e.g., Minitab)
Demonstrated ability to collaborate across functions and job levels within a global organization.
Experience leading, developing, and mentoring technical employees.
Proven judgment in assessing risks and communicating complex technical challenges to upper management.
Excellent organization, Planning, Computer skills, technical writing, communication and presentation skills
Experience with Medical Device Manufacturing Quality System and Regulatory requirements
Dynamic, positive attitude
Strong leadership, coaching and mentoring skills for the team of direct reports.
Knowledge of A3, DMAIC, Lean and 6 Sigma principles
Knowledge of GD&T
Knowledge of DFMEA and PFMEA
Validation; OQ, IQ, PQ, TMV
Knowledge of Design for Automation.
Knowledge and experience with manufacturing assembly processes and methods
Knowledge and experience with material process and testing
Some travel may be required.

The provided base salary range is used nationally in the United States (except in Puerto Rico and certain CA locations). The rate offered is compliant with federal/local regulations and may vary by experience, certification/education, market conditions, location, etc.
