We operate Guinness packaging facilities at Marshalls Road in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and Runcorn, in North West England, producing canned, bottled and kegged product for Ireland, UK and export markets. Significant investment is underway at both of these locations.
This role is site based at Runcorn which is an 18 Acre site running a 24/7 Operation with 4 rotational crews. It has 2 Bottling, 2 Canning lines and 1 Kegging production line. There are 90+ SKUs with 16 different Beer/Liquid types covering producing on average 23million cases of product per annum.
About the role
The beer packaging engineering team directly lead an annual revenue spend of £3m, with a craft and leadership population of almost 50 engineers. They also manage annual site service contracts in excess of £3m through almost 20 embedded 3rd party engineers. Over the next 3 years they also plan to manage a Cap-Ex spend averaging £6m annually.
As the Engineering Manager at Runcorn, you will lead a team of engineers to deliver reliability performance and strategic objectives for manufacturing excellence. You will advocate good governance around internal and external compliance (health & safety, quality and environment).
You will define clear expectations for team and set challenging targets to achieve acceleration of asset care deployment standards.
Other key responsibilities are;
Supporting the operational team to resolve complex equipment problems
Actively leading and sponsoring capex and brand change activity for area of responsibility
Continuous Improvement - accountable for leading improvement activity
Proactively leading on performance analysis that drives improvement actions to address adverse performance trends and resolve systemic problems.
Leading the MMS Asset Care deployment within the maintenance team.
Coaching teams in the use of problem-solving tools to support systematic problem resolution.
Ensuring effective management of spare parts to optimise availability and average working capital
About you
For this role you’ll need to be time served mechanical or electrical engineer with the ability to lead people performance, coaching and development of a multi-disciplined team.You will have track record of maintenance management, Asset Care strategy development and engagement.
You will have proactive structured problem solving skills learnt through exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, TPM or Manufacturing Excellence and good working knowledge of Environmental legislation and standards.
