  Job Description

  Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren three times per week (Tue.-Thurs.), at minimum

  The Role:

  In this people leader role, as well as having responsibilities for areas of technology, you will lead innovative and strategic action plans to support business goals for our inclusive future as we reinvent ourselves from auto manufacturer to a tech company. The heart of this position is to embrace agile practices that will enable you to grow your team's capability for the future with a focus on speed, quality, and safety.

  What You’ll do:

  Leads, guides, and directs a group of technical employees responsible for engineering deliverables in support of the organization's business objectives.

  Provides technical leadership to work team. Interacts and collaborates with many teams cross-functionally.

  Leads team on continuous improvement and enforcement of PSDS Technical Requirements (SSTS, CGs, GMWs, Best Practices)

  Leads team to meet defined goals and targets.

  Reviews and approves engineering documentation, e.g., requirements, documents.

  Hiring: Identifies & leads staffing initiatives for work team.

  Communicating: Conducts regularly scheduled Group Meetings, Communicates GM Policies & Procedures, Leadership and Safety Messages. Creates and communicates vision & strategies specific to functional responsibilities. May include preparing and giving presentations.

  Training & Developing: Insures employees complete all mandatory GM training and any specific training related to functional responsibility. Understands & supports employee's career development goals. Develops and executes initiatives to improve work team capability and increase work team capacity.

  Assigning Work: Assigns and manages workload for direct reports. Sets individual employee and group priorities.

  Monitoring & Approving GM Records: Reviews and approves employee work and overtime schedules, expenses, and other work-related data.

  Evaluating Performance and Behaviors: Reviews deliverables and provides candid & constructive feedback. Conducts performance interventions when necessary.

  Recognition: Formally & informally recognizes employee's contributions. Provides timely and consistent feedback to direct employees as appropriate. Participates in compensation planning and administers compensation treatment.

  Removing Roadblocks & Resolving Issues/Complaints: Observes and steps up to remove roadblocks and resolve potential issues.

  Delegation: Assigns and balances workload for direct reports. You will also set individual employee and group priorities.

  Performs other related duties as assigned.

  Help remove impediments and foster an environment for high-performing team dynamics, continuous flow, and relentless improvement

  Implement and support agile principles and practices, identifying and eliminating impediments, and facilitating flow

  Mentor, coach, and develop employees and their careers

  Establish and monitor budget for responsible activities

  Execute resource planning for required activities

  Model and foster GM's Core Values and Winning Behaviors

  Additional Job Description

  Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  Bachelor of Science in Engineering to include Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, Computer Engineering and Mathematics or equivalent experience

  Minimum 7+ years of engineering experience

  Demonstrated results in successful project execution

  Excellent multi-functional communication and leadership skills - able to get multiple teams moving in the same direction

  Demonstrated ability to deal with ambiguity while driving timely decision making

  Benchmarking and competitive analysis experience preferred.

  Thorough understanding of fundamental principals involved in engineering principles.

  Technical depth and ability to provide technical alternatives to balance imperatives.

  Broad knowledge and ability to understand GM Policies and Procedures.

  Broad knowledge and understanding of administrative and engineering systems and tools used by work team and those who interface with work team.

  Proven ability to be a change leader.

  Proven ability to drive consensus.

  Proven ability to communicate, motivate and inspire direct reports and others.

  Proven ability to resolve conflicts.

  Proven ability to solve highly complex problems.

  Proven ability to hold yourself, your team and related groups accountable for deliverables.

  Interpersonal skills involving ability to work effectively cross-functionally and cross-culturally to grow relationships and partnerships.

  Demonstrates innovative and strategic thinking and initiative to take action in support of positive change.

  Demonstrates honesty, integrity and trust. Leads by example.

  Estimating and work planning skills.

  This position requires the ability to legally operate a motor vehicle on a regular basis.

  What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Skills)

  Master of Science in Engineering and/or Master of Business Administration

  People Leader experience leading a team of engineers or technical specialists.
