Purpose:
A site engineering professional who, working with little or no supervision, applies construction knowledge, engineering knowledge, and integrity to complete assignments related to specific project work. A site engineer will monitor safety and progress on the job. Will report to the project manager.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities of this engineering grade level inherently include and expand upon the responsibilities established for lower engineering grade levels.
Responsible for compliance with applicable policies and procedures. This includes generating the appropriate permits for the various construction activities (hot work, confined space, penetration, etc.). Maintains oversight of the safety of the project during construction. Works with the various EHS departments to ensure construction activities adhere to the Abbvie safety policies. Responsible for generating Shutdown Requests and working with the building Facility Engineers and clients to coordinate the shutdown of building equipment."
Independently plans and conducts medium- to large-sized assigned projects within engineering specialty requiring conventional plans, investigations, and/or equipment. Manages multiple, often concurrent, projects and meets deadlines. (Responsible for achieving the project's financial targets in support of business objectives.) Maintains project controls and reporting for scope and schedule; develops execution strategy. Balances multiple demands.
Produces unique and cost-effective results. Establishes alternate use possibilities and incorporates flexibility; balances system costs with benefits provided; oversees internal and external consultants. Integrates financial with technical data. Analyzes complex interdisciplinary problems and identifies their impact; establishes probabilities; draws conclusions reflecting broad business needs.
Qualifications:
Work experience in Engineering, construction, or a closely related discipline is desired, with 5+ years of significant engineering and/or operational experience.
Should have a working knowledge of various building operations, including piping, HVAC, electrical, controls, etc. Should be able to read and understand a complete project design drawing package, including architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and control prints.
Possesses solid technical knowledge and application of construction concepts, practices, and procedures. Works on problems of complex scope where analysis of situations or data involves multiple competing factors. Demonstrates judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
•Interacts well with diverse groups within engineering and maintains strong working relationships with internal and external collaborators.
Listens to and understands others' points of view and articulates tactfully and respectfully one's perspective orally, in writing, and in presentations.
Works well with other engineers in a collaborative, fast-paced, goal-driven environment.
Possesses interpersonal skills to negotiate and reconcile differences.
Note: Occasional work during weekends may occur as per business needs.
