JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:
The Engineer, Control Center Operation Support provides operational tool and engineering expertise for the Power Delivery control centers. This role will develop and maintain internal control center tools and applications, enhance operating guides and procedures, and provide NERC compliance subject-matter expertise for audit readiness. Frequent interaction with all Power Delivery control centers, Planning, IT, and Learning & Development – Operations partners is expected.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support real time control center operations tools and applications
Provide project support for control center work management tools and systems
Enhance existing and/or prototype new solutions for emerging operational needs
Serve as application subject-matter expert (SME) for operational applications, collaborating with IT Service Delivery to support resolution of application issues, system defect and enhancements
Actively participates in electric utility industry forums, working groups and tasks forces to both advocate for positions favorable to Entergy and ensure industry best practices are understood. Industry forums/organizations include but are not limited to EPRI, NERC, SERC, MISO and NATF.
Serves in the Incident Command Structure during major events as TCC and/or DOC Support engineer
Assist with operational procedure development and revisions, NERC compliance readiness activities
Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and operate in a highly visible and rapidly changing work environment
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Discipline (typically Electrical, Mechanical, Civil and Chemical, Industrial) from four year accredited institution.
Degrees in engineering technology (typically, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, and Industrial) from a four year accredited institution with PE may be considered.
Minimum experience required of the position
Engineer I: 0 to 2 years experience in an engineering discipline.
Engineer II: 2+ years experience in an engineering discipline.
Engineer III: 4+ years experience in an engineering discipline.
Engineer Sr: 6+ year experience in an engineering discipline.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to recognize opportunities for process improvement and have the ability to enact change
Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities
Thorough understanding of procedures, programs, and standards in responsible area
Preferred:
Programming language experience (C++, Java, .Net, Python, Perl or similar)
Demonstrate advanced knowledge of Power BI (or similar analytics toolset)
Knowledge of SQL (Structured Query Language) is desired
Experience in Distribution or Transmission control center
