JOB REQUIREMENTS: Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls, performhigh quality patient assessments, and make critical care decisionsquickly to develop a pre-hospital stabilization and treatment plan.Collect pertinent patient care data and enter the information intodepartment patient care reports and reporting software. Exhibitsexcellent verbal and written communication skills. Communicates clearlywith the patient, co-workers, first responders, bystanders, and otherhealthcare professionals to provide high quality, prehospital patientcare. Ability to assess emergency scenes. Ability to identify scenesafety issues, implement, adjust, and maintain scene safety assituations change. Handle non-medical situations such as crowd controland protecting the valuables of a patient if necessary. Operate EMSvehicles under normal and emergency conditions in a safe manner. Operatestandard equipment such as stretchers, cots, patient care monitors, andstandard diagnostic equipment. Maintain the interior and exterior ofdepartment vehicles. This includes, but is not limited to, restockingand cleaning the exterior and interior of ambulances as well as generalcleaning and upkeep of ambulances and supply areas as needed. Extricatepersons from vehicles; kneel, bend, lift, and stand for extended periodsof time. Perform CPR for extended periods of time. Be able to remaincalm and deliver quality care in high-pressure, extreme stress,situations. Maintain good physical condition and personal hygiene.Ability to lift 150 pounds with assistance. Perform appropriate clean upand disposal of contaminated items when necessary. Maintain patientconfidentiality at all times. Assist in public relations and recruitingof new personnel. Knowledge of computer processing. Vocational orbusiness skills such as typing, operating business machines such as faxmachines and copiers. Establish and maintain effective workingrelationships with co-workers, supervisors, and the general public andwork effectively as a team member. Complies with state regulations andservices guidelines and polices. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE ANDQUALIFICATIONS: Must be at least 21 years old to operate an emergencyvehicle.
