Electronics Technician (AVTBHQ-2024-19994):
Bowhead seeks a Electronics Technician to support operational and technical support services for the Amphibious Vehicle Test Branch (AVTB) Headquarters and Technical Support Services (HQTSS) at Camp Pendleton, CA. AVTB is a Department of Defense (DoD) sponsored test facility that provides year-round Test and Evaluation (T&E) of amphibious vehicles, ground combat vehicles, systems, and equipment for the Marine Corps Systems Command (MCSC) and Program Executive Officer Land Systems (PEO LS).

Assembling and maintaining instrumentation
Preparing, aligning, and calibrating instrumentation to include pressure transducers, current meters, tachometers, flow meters, accelerometers, thermocouples, inclinometers, spectrometers, telemetry systems, load cells, and data acquisition systems
Bench testing and verifying instrumentation
Installing instrumentation onto the test platform
Ensuring that the sensors accurately measure the intended physical phenomenon
Ensuring that the installations are robust against heat, vibration, snags, impacts, and fluids
Observing instrumentation operation via wireless telemetry or direct physical to detect malfunctions and ensure the electronic data is complete, valid, accurate and sufficient
Providing real-time verbal reports to test team members
Notifying the test team immediately if a problem is observed
Providing technical information concerning possible instrumentation problems and exceptions, a description of data acquisition system performance, an assessment concerning the accuracy of final measurements, and any possible caveats accompanying measurement results for technical reports.
Retrieving data collected from test vehicles
Supporting quarterly lab inventory reviews
Testing performance of electromechanical assemblies, using test instruments such as oscilloscopes, electronic voltmeters, or bridges
Reading blueprints, schematics, diagrams, or technical orders to determine methods and sequences of assembly
Install electrical or electronic parts and hardware in housings or assemblies, using soldering equipment and hand tools
Verifying part dimensions or clearances to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments
Aligning, fitting, or assembling component parts, using hand or power tools, fixtures, templates, or microscopes
Assembling or modifying electrical systems or prototypes, using hand tools, or measuring instruments
Building, calibrating, and maintaining electrical instruments or testing equipment
Inspecting electrical project work for quality control and assurance
Identifying solutions to on-site technical design problems involving electrical systems equipment
Collaborating with engineers or other personnel to identify, define, or solve developmental problems
Setting up or operating test equipment to evaluate performance
Reviewing existing engineering criteria to identify necessary revisions, deletions, or amendments to outdated material
Interpreting test information to resolve design-related problems
Providing technical assistance in resolving engineering problems
Evaluating engineering proposals, shop drawings, or design comments
Planning method or sequence of operations for developing or testing experimental electronic or electrical equipment
Qualifications
High school diploma. Bachelor's Degree highly desired.
Three plus (3+) years of experience in the field or in a related area.
Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures.
Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office software suite - word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts.
Strong interpersonal skills and good judgement with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
Physically climb ladders, boats, and test vehicles.
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to obtain a security clearance at the Public Trust level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Public Trust clearance at this location.
