We have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our Electrical Technologies team located in Rancho Bernardo. This position is available for undergraduate or graduate students to participate in supervised practical training in a professional field. We are looking for someone who eagerly wants to work alongside senior engineering staff and gain experience developing knowledge and skills in high-reliability cable and wiring harness design for aerospace, defense, and space systems.
This engineering center of excellence is focused on enabling GA-EMS technologies and systems, including high-power motor drives, power conditioning systems, pulsed power systems, high-energy laser systems, battery systems, advanced sensors, space-based laser communications, small and cubesat satellite systems, and other cutting-edge technology ventures into Defense Systems and “NewSpace.”
DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES:
Assist senior engineers in engineering design and development activities, including hardware, circuit, cable, and wiring harness design.
Participates in the day-to-day activities of the assigned functional area assisting in the completion of non-routine and advanced tasks.
Assists in applying knowledge to analyze, investigate and resolve non-routine problems.
Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications:
Requires enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student at a recognized college or university; Junior or Senior year with a 3.00 GPA or above (in major)
The ability to understand new concepts and apply them accurately and follow general and detailed instructions as well as organizational policies and procedures.
Must possess good communication and interpersonal skills to enable effective interface with internal professionals.
The ability to work independently or in a team environment.
Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering is required.
Course work focus in Circuit Design or mechatronics is desired.
Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required.
Experience with Microsoft Visio is desired.
Experience with Cubesat Lab, Mechatonics, or Racing Team (Formula SAE or Baja) is a plus.
Experience with 3D CAD (Solidworks preferably), schematic capture, and electrical-mechanical assembly design is a plus.
Must commit to at least a ten-week summer internship.
This position pays at an hourly rate of $26.
