What You'll Be Doing
Job Su mmary: The basic function of this role is to maintain, repair and improve instrumentation and electrical equipment located in the greater Baton Rouge area. The primary focus is to provide necessary technical and hands-on support to continuously improve plant instrumentation, electrical, and DCS equipment integrity, cost, and on-stream reliability. Responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and calibration of electronic and digital process control equipment, related loop equipment, electric motors and control circuitry. The successful candidate will be assigned to the Baton Rouge site but will be responsible for supporting all plants in Plaquemine and Geismar Louisiana area.
Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Must be a safety oriented individual that is able to work in a team environment.
Trade/Technical degree or apprenticeship in a related field preferred
Minimum of 5 years strong industrial (Chemical/Petrochemical) maintenance experience and/or equivalent military experience.
Must be a self-starter with a solid work history and excellent references along with the ability to work in a team oriented environment.
Read blueprints, P&ID's, single-lines, ladder logic, and wiring schematics.
Repair and troubleshoot analog and discrete instrument loops.
Effectively use typical test and calibration equipment, including pneumatic calibrators, RTD calibrators, mA calibrators, T/C calibrators, digital and analog multi-meters, meggers, and laptops for equipment communication.
Follow step-by-step calibration procedures.
Use computerized systems to enter and retrieve data.
Troubleshoot and repair 480 VAC 3 phase motor controls as well as 120 VAC control circuits.
Troubleshoot PLC problems through knowledge of PLC logic and operations. Work with and troubleshoot the following: Pressure, temperature, level and flow measuring equipment Pneumatic Controls Chart recorders Water analytical equipment, including pH/ORP, Conductivity Solenoids Limit & Proximity Switches
Ideal Background
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required.Trade/Technical degree or apprenticeship in a related field preferred but not required.
Certification : No certification is required for this position.
Experience: This position requires a minimum 5years strong industrial (Chemical/Petrochemical) maintenance experience and/or equivalent military experience
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:
Thorough knowledge of Federal, State, and industry safety requirements and regulations
Dedicated focus on safety as a non-negotiable priority
Ability to pass tests and/or certification courses on job-required skills and equipment operations, which may include but are not limited to various lift/access equipment operation, mechanical aptitude, and welding
Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and PLC systems
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment by multitasking, adapting, and adjusting as priorities and deadlines change.
Ability to analyze data, make judgments and develop reports.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with Teammates, clients, and vendors.
Ability to complete projects and resolve user issues in a timely manner.
Extreme attention to detail.
Excellent organizational skills.Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written, to understand the problem and explainthe solution.
Physical Qualifications:
Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
Ability to walk reasonable distances, potentially on uneven ground or catwalks, and ascend stairs.
Ability to climb ladders and otherwise navigate through industrial/manufacturing settings and around equipment/installations.
Ability to stoop, bend, crouch, kneel, and crawl.
Ability to maneuver in confined spaces.
Ability to reach with both arms.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs frequently and occasionally lift and carry up to 100 lbs.
Must be able to work at heights.
