The successful candidate will serve as the US Chief Economist and Leader of Deloitte's Center for Economic Research.
Responsibilities:
Serves as an economic advisor to Deloitte's leadership team, with responsibilities including monthly meetings with the COO and CFO, providing written briefing papers to the CEO, and producing talking points as needed for public events
Presents frequently at Deloitte, client, and industry events, including CFO forums, board meetings, large CPE events, and trade events; represents Deloitte externally in the media
Leads the US Economic Research Center team, including the development of the research and publication strategy
Plays a leadership role in the Global Network of Deloitte Economists, including co-authoring research pieces for publications on Deloitte Insights
Collaborates with industry and cross-industry Research Centers and Data Science team by providing economic perspectives and forecasts for research and publications; provides guidance to ensure research is based on sound economic analysis
Providing support to Global Public Policy by co-authoring the annual B20 Monitoring Report with Deloitte India and the International Organization of Employers
Provides oversight and direction to the development of Deloitte's Quarterly US Economic Forecast for internal use and external publication

Required Qualifications and Skills
Chief Economist with a demonstrated understanding of how shifts in the economic environment (including such diverse factors as demographics, inflation, regulation, and policy) impact various industry sectors and consumer groups.
Deep understanding economic principles and current economic trends and can translate that knowledge into insights relevant to businesses and consumers.
Advanced understanding of economic data published by the US government and various international agencies.
Ability to engage and converse at all levels of knowledge: both with the economist community at the peer level and with colleagues and clients who do not have economics training or deep knowledge base.
10+ years of demonstrated exceptional writing and presentation skills and the ability to engage with C-suite executives, government leaders, academics, economists, and media
Proven track record of innovation in research products and conducting rigorous analysis
Fluency in econometrics and demonstrated experience in supporting industry and cross-industry forecasts and statistical projections
While the focus is primarily on the US economy, many Deloitte clients are multinationals, even those solely US-based, engage in international trade (importing intermediate goods and commodities and exporting). This requires an understanding of how shifts in the global situation can impact the US economy and US clients
Ability to quickly pivot to focus on what is of critical importance at the moment and driving economic and business efforts (e.g., FED policy, inflation, fiscal policy, geopolitics)
Excellent stakeholder management skills
Strong team leadership with excitement to mentor and motivate a team of skilled economists
Masters degree in Economics or related field
Limited immigration sponsorship may be available
Ability to travel 5-10%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
Candidates must be at least 18 years of age at the time of employment
Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Economics highly preferred
10+ years of professional consulting, industry, or government experience
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $144,300 - $296,100.
You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
