Performs departmental transportation planning-related activities by drafting or performing computer entry work in support of plans, specifications and estimates; or participating in district/division level review of plans, specifications and estimates (PS E) and supporting documents for accuracy, completeness; and ensuring compliance with state and federal design guidelines. In a district, provides support to the residencies during their plan preparation process. Work requires contact with governmental agencies. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details.Essential Duties:Plan Reviewer IIConducts special research and assists with special engineering projects/assignments.Consults with private firms performing contract plan preparation to ensure that designs and plans are accurate and meetrequired standards.Answers inquiries on final PSE policies and procedures.Assists in making corrections and/or revisions to plans and related documents.Designs and prepares plans for special projects.Plots general notes and estimates and quantity sheets.Processes PSE revisions submitted by districts and divisions.Performs other jobs responsibilities as assigned. Plan Reviewer IIIIn addition to the above: May train other employeesPerforms and coordinates the detail design and quantity checking of plans, specifications and estimates.Plan Reviewer IVIn addition to the above: May serve as a lead worker and the related tasks.Serves as liaison between district and divisions after submission of plans and related documents to divisions and answersquestions and/or helps resolve design problems.Coordinates PSE review with other divisions and/or governmental agencies.Prepares special specifications, special provisions, and supporting documents.Interprets new design guidelines and specifications for Area Engineers' offices.
