  The Global Payments Architect role at Peapod Digital Labs (PDL) will function as a key leader in the Payments Global focus area (GFA) organization, as part of Growth and Innovation (G&I) team. The Payments core team was setup in 2022, to accelerate our strategy and our omnichannel transformation journey, by ‘leading together' across the globe.

  This role will work across multiple Ahold Delhaize brands in USA and Europe, taking 360-degree ownership of payment products - across customer facing capabilities, and backend payment gateway, processing, billing, fraud and collections realm. Curious what you would be working on? Projects such as launching a new digital wallet, which includes existing payment methods and adding new ones in future. Additionally, leading roadmap for capabilities such as linking payments with loyalty and savings programs, improving backend payments platform to more scalable and flexible tech, driving longer term ambitions to make payments streamlined, enabling cobrand payment cards etc.

  Recipe for Success - What's "in store" for the role

  Establish a shared strategic payments vision across multiple teams and functions, then drive a process to bring the Payments GFA - Growth & Innovation (G&I) vision to fruition.Lead and mentor tech leaders and engineers to supervise the multi-functional portfolio development and collaborate with key collaborators to develop and support the technology growth strategy.Create and nurture relationships across a sophisticated global retail organization, to help deliver experiences and drive outcomes in an omni-channel retail environment.Partner with Payments GFA - Operational excellence (OE) team on common priorities and collaboration opportunities.Partner directly with analytics and user research teams, to champion data-driven decision-making across teams.Champion the needs of the customer, AD global and brand specific business goalsDevelop the Payment vision and set the associated technology strategy to accelerate the growth of business.Transformative authority in providing end-to-end solution architecture using the newest technologiesDevelop POC projects to prove out the feasibility of an approach or technologyWork backwards from the customer translation complex functional and technical requirements into detailed architecture and design that is stable, scalable, and resilientProvide direction to tackle business problems or needs arising from everyday events or unexpected / catastrophic eventsIdentify business needs and make suggestions regarding technical directionStay ahead of the latest software trends and emerging technologies and recommend opportunities for innovationEstablish development standards with help from development managers and performing engineersFacilitate cross-team communication to guide sophisticated projects and resolve complex incidentsInspire, mentor and groom developers to master modern technologies and enhance business domains knowledge

  The Essentials in Your Cart - The required ingredients

  12+ years of experience in software engineeringBroad and deep experience in payment-related technologies and providers, including payment gateways, payment orchestration, tokenization, wallets, POS solutions, eCommerce platforms, fraud & risk solutions, etc. Sound understanding of how these solutions plug into a broader omni-channel digital & eCommerce IT landscapeMaster in core technologies: Java, Spring, RESTful API, messaging frameworks, container-based development (Docker), Elastic Search, Relational Database (PostgreSQL), NoSQL (Azure or Cassandra) and event driven architecture solutions such as KafkaMaster in designing, developing, and implementing using Azure Cloud computing technologies - Azure AKS, APIM, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure SQL Database, Redis, Istio, and Azure ADMaster in implementing Microservices Architecture and building / deploying highly automated, scalable, and maintainable infrastructureExpert in modernizing legacy applications to modern technologies in Azure cloudMaster in crafting a sophisticated network of microservices which can handle high TPS (transactions per second) traffic with low latency. This experience is essential as we embark on implementing transaction processing microservices, which can process millions of transactions daily, in a highly efficient mannerKnowledge of Continuous Delivery process and tools, testing frameworks and practices (preferably GitHub, Jenkins, etc.)Azure Solution Architect Certification is preferred
