Job Summary of Roles and Responsibilities
POWER Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Project Coordinator to help manage the planning and administrative requirements related to the relocation of overhead and underground distribution lines. The qualified candidate will have experience with common road construction procedures from planning through execution as well as familiarity with common electric distribution equipment. The position will require the individual to receive requests for road improvement projects and facilitate the relocation of electric utility equipment and assets on behalf of our client. The position will require strong organizational skills, the ability to complete applications, permits and other client specific forms as well as track these forms to the approval stage. The candidate will be expected to communicate directly with the client and therefore they must have a strong command of the English language and possess good written and oral communications skills. The candidate will be required to organize and run both formal and informal meetings. The project work is typically in the Palm Beach area of Florida. Minimal travel should be expected.
Duties may include but are not limited to:
Facilitate the relocation of electric utilities on behalf of our client and in conjunction with FDOT and Palm Beach County road improvement projects
Initial scope of project requirements based on review of planned road improvements, conceptual design of electric facilities, evaluation of permit requirements and identifying conflicts with other project stakeholders
Attend site meetings as the representative for the client
Ensure that engineering activities account for reliability, customer standards and cost considerations
Utilize client software to create work requests, manage scheduling, develop material requirements, review costs, create invoices and other documentation
Coordinate project meetings and maintaining communication with appropriate project stakeholders
Required Education/Experience
One (1) + years of experience in road construction or utility industry
Familiarity with basic project management skills to include: scheduling, sequencing, budgeting and coordinating multiple stakeholders
Strong command of the English language and possess good written and oral communications skills
Ability to develop strong client relationship, write proposals and manage projects from a technical and administrative perspective
Ability to coordinate technical issues with internal and external engineers, designers, drafters, and customer representatives
Must be able to successfully pass client's background screening process
Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
Desired Education/Experience
Bachelor of Science in Construction Management or similar degree from an ABET-accredited university
PMP certification
Two (2) to five (5) years of experience in road construction or utility industry
Prior project management experience with road construction and/or electric utility
Florida Power & Light (FPL) experience
Familiarity with FPL Work Management System
