Job Summary
Assists in the research, investigation, testing and integration of automation and technology within the supply chain. The purpose of the position is to reduce labor and material costs, increase capacity, maintain or increase quality, and improve service to stores. Serves as "translator" between TJX Systems team and technology vendors to assess and enable integration of new technologies into the existing supply chain environment. Scope for the automation is within the MMX Distribution Centers, but may also include technologies that are applied up or downstream within the supply chain.
Responsibilities
Establishes current market awareness of new technology, trends and advancements in supply chain automation through ongoing research (industry press, online groups, academic literature, trade shows, direct vendor contact). Uses his/her knowledge of robotics, AI, machine learning and data analytics to continually investigate and recommend technologies for the TJX supply chain. Develops strong understanding of TJX Distribution material and information process flows, including WMS and LMS data inputs and outputs. Applies data analytics, statistics, simulation to identify where opportunities exist for process improvements through automation of both physical movement of merchandise, as well as flow of information.Conducts data collection for potential vendors to assess and propose automation opportunities.Assists in feasibility studies, financial comparisons and ROI analyses of potential automation technologies. Supports pilot testing of new technologies, and assists in business case development for technology adoption. Assists in post-deployment analysis to verify financial and capacity benefits were achieved.
Requirements
Familiarity with automation/robotics within distribution environments (ASRS, AGV, AMR, Gripper technology, case and pallet handling technology, sortation systems, vision/voice systems, etc.)Knowledge of AI and ML fundamentals as they apply to supply chain technologyStrong data analytics skills including statistical methodsMaterial handling equipment integration with technical knowledge in: MHE Controls, PLC, sensors, API development, etc.Intermediate to expert knowledge in tools such as Excel, Access, SQL, Tableau, Python, R, etc.Process flow mapping and continuous improvement fundamentalsSimulationData mining and analysis from WMS and LMS sourcesROI and payback modeling to support investment decisionsTime will be split between Home Office in Framingham as well as the Worcester Distribution Center
