The Senior Instructional Design Consultant will build scalable learning experiences that develop teams across Optum Global Advantage. The ideal candidate will be creative and tech savvy with experience working across multiple instructional delivery modalities with expert level digital design skills. The Sr Instructional Designer will create and continuously improve learning experiences using an array of approaches that engage learners and drive high-impact learning.
The candidate will be involved in assessing training and organizational development needs, developing training programs, and/or conducting training sessions.
Positions in this function are responsible for conducting training needs analysis for the business, conducting ongoing evaluations and assessments to ensure effectiveness of programs and recommending/ implementing modifications, as necessary. Will need to liaison with SMEs and multiple stakeholders to obtain training content and design instructional strategy for classroom and/or web-based training material.
Primary Responsibilities:
Engage/collaborate with appropriate stakeholders and SMEs
Conduct task analysis and audience analysis to identify skills and performance gaps.
Carry out a quantitative and qualitative evaluation of relevant data to validate business challenges
Apply principles of cognitive science and adult learning to design solutions that maximize learning and performance outcomes
Design and develop learning experiences such as using appropriate delivery such as digital learning, multimedia, job aids etc. to meet the desired training needs
Apply project management principles and processes such as scheduling, planning, resources management, evaluating and reporting
Monitor and analyze training metrics/data/trends and identify areas needing attention to enhance learning effectiveness
Lead on fast-paced projects to scope, identify and implement creative and cost-effective digital learning solutions assuring integration with other learning workstreams in line with strategic objectives
Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). Required Qualifications:
Graduate/Masters in Instructional Design, English, Mass comm, journalism, business management etc.
Certification from premier talent development organizations such as ATD, SHRM, PMI, Training Industry, Brandon Hall
Minimum 12+ years of experience in instructional, digital design, project management and talent development
Technical Skills:
Expert level skills in Articulate Storyline 360 etc.
Intermediate level skills in video-editing tools like Captivate and Vyond
Intermediate proficiency with using Office tools like Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
Data collection tools such as surveys, questionnaires, FGDs
Process Specific Skills:
Training and adoption support strategy knowledge
Training needs analysis, design and development planning
Project management, time management, people and vendor management
Proven experience with designing learning solutions, both synchronous and asynchronous
Proven analytical skills, attention to detail, problem-solving and fact-based decision-making abilities
QA / material review
Feedback syntheses and follow-up/information gathering using relationship, prioritization and application
Skilled in evaluating and prioritizing implications and mitigating risks
Knowledge of methods and tools to evaluate the impact of learning on performance and business outcomes
Proven excellent consulting skills in partnering with business and other departments to develop talent strategy
