Position Summary
This role is responsible for the digital transformation of business processes across traditional business units (HR, Finance, etc.) as well as those supporting student services. S/he interacts directly with the leaders and key resources within those units, developing and maintaining strong partnerships. S/he is a dynamic, client-focused IT leader, an agile and eager learner, and someone with a high level of planning/organizational skill and functional expertise. S/he has a deep understanding and passion for business process design, with a focus on streamlining systems and enhancing client productivity and success. The Director, IT Systems Administration, is responsible for the direction of their unit and is a primary contributor to the overall strategy and resourcing plan of the department.
Required Qualifications
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
Contribute to information technology strategic and operational planning through the evaluation, deployment, and management of enterprise systems across the organization.
Manage all aspects of business process optimization affected by enterprise systems including simplification, integration/configuration, functional and technical specification, data reporting and support.
Define, recruit and manage appropriate internal and external resources, ensuring a high-performing, adaptable team.
Apply best practices in project and change management to ensure consistent, high-quality project outcomes.
Effectively manage risk, while developing and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
Participate in or assume leadership positions on college committees and other groups.
Participate in conference presentations to share information with colleagues.
Education and Experience:
6-8 years of professional systems administration experience, including demonstrated success managing complex information, infrastructure, and middleware systems.
Experience in project management including project identification, specification, and cost estimation.
Experience in the application and management of enterprise data reporting tools and best practices.
Technical personnel management experience, demonstrating leadership and motivational abilities.
Bachelor’s degree or 6-8 years of equivalent experience preferred
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Hands-on experience architecting the implementation and integration of enterprise business applications.
Exposure to the configuration and integration of modern, cloud-based applications.
Demonstrable expertise and fluency in the application and management of enterprise data reporting tools and best practices.
Skill in modeling and analyzing complex business operations and processes, recommending policy, then developing and implementing alternative, improved approaches.
Ability to frame how IT automation and system integration drive efficiency in various scenarios.
Demonstrable understanding and appreciation of project and change management best practices.
Broad experience in developing and managing enterprise vendor relationships.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Personal accountability and ability to manage multiple tasks, assignments and projects.
Open-minded and creative thinker that can balance innovation with practical consideration and respect for College culture, policy and procedure.
Strong people skills and ability to influence and build trust with stakeholders across the organization.
Ability to perform at a high level in a changing environment.
Excellent oral and written communication skills that are accessible to the layperson.
Additional Information:
This hybrid position is based in Albany, NY. This role is required to be on-site at least 1-2 days per week. All remote work must be performed in a state in which the College is registered to do business which includes New York, Massachusetts, Vermont, Maryland, Texas, and California. Standard work hours are from 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM EST , Monday through Friday. The position also requires availability to assist in emergency situations after traditional work hours as needed. Additional details pertaining to this position will be discussed during the interview process.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Position Salary Range $80,000-$95,000
