GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:The Director, Senior Corporate Counsel will be a member of the regulatoryteam within the Justice League. The individual will provide legal guidance andsupport to the Company on regulatory and compliance related matters as theyarise in the context of development and oversight of clinical operations andinitiatives as well as provide support and guidance on clinical teammate andpatient-facing education, related clinical IT systems, issues related touse of clinical data, and other topics that impact clinical operations inoutpatient dialysis centers and related businesses.This position requires expertise in the Federal healthcare regulatory laws,including the False Claims Act, the Anti-Kickback Statute, and the CivilMonetary Penalties and Beneficiary Inducement laws and their implementingregulations. The attorney should also have strong regulatory analysis,advocacy skills and familiarity with HIPAA and privacy laws.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Serve as legal regulatory counsel and strategic partner to DaVita, with anemphasis on healthcare laws and regulations. In partnership with other DaVitaattorneys and compliance teammates, assist business clients responsible forclinical initiatives and operations in identifying and resolvinglegal/regulatory matters. Advise on compliance with federal and state healthcare industry laws and regulations. Develop working relationships withbusiness clients, as well as legal and compliance partners.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Juris Doctorate degree with a minimum of 6 years' experience in legalpractice representing businesses and/or organizations in the health careindustry.At least one state bar admission and in good standing, with the ability towaive into Colorado, if needed.Substantial knowledge of the Medicare program and health care fraud and abuse
