The Digital and Mobile Enablement Technology Organization in Isssuing Solutions at Visa is looking for a passionate Director level leader to drive and execute to the vision of Visa’s Payment Digitization. This Individual will be leading a talented Engineering team, applying your expertise in full stack and mobile development to create and deliver outstanding features to scale our Issuers and partners. At the core of this role is a successful candidate who can be both hands on and act as a driving force for the team to provide technology leadership on strategic projects. The leader will work on solutions for difficult problems and implement those solutions with the highest quality. We’re looking for a technology savvy individual to drive and guide digital and mobile projects aligned to business strategy. You and your team will be at the forefront of strategic breakthrough technologies and complex systems comprised of both back-end and front end. You will work closely with product teams, partner with cross functional teams and cross- leverage engineering talent.
Reporting to the Sr Director of Digital and Mobile Engineering, the Director will be accountable for engineering functions of the Mobile Enablement Platform and Digital Enablement Services, and will be responsible for Development, Test, Delivery and Maintenance of high-throughput systems. The team you lead will be assembled from full stack developers with exposure and experience with mobile app delivery. You will work with teams in other locations for developing and executing projects and programs within a shared strategic vision for building software that enables mobile, web and micro-service solutions and integrations.
Responsibilities
Be accountable for implementing highly scalable, low-latency, high-throughput systems
Develop and nurture the Engineering team by motivating and mentoring staff, hire critical talent.
Create an outstanding team culture of creativity and innovation embodying whatever it takes attitude with ownership and pride in work.
Lead and provide mentoring, coaching and guidance to talented technologists with a wide spectrum of specialization from native mobile development to web and Java . Develop strategic, mature, whole-function managers and technology leads. Hands on mentoring and coaching the team of full stack and mobile developers
Work collaboratively across team boundaries to share common infrastructure and functional capabilities. Drive productivity through engineering fundamentals, framework and best practices.
Consult on a regular basis with leadership to align expectations and deliverables.
Extensive cross-organization collaboration playing a crucial role in interfacing with various technology teams and stakeholders to identify requirements, prioritize, and drive execution using agile methodologies. Provide feedback to core product teams to influence roadmap and strategy.
Multi-task, lead projects, resolve scheduling & other conflicts, to meet all deadlines
Achieve Operational/Engineering Excellence: security, availability, stability and efficiency
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Qualifications • 8+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 6 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 15+ years of relevant engineering work experience.
• Prior experience must include leadership for mission-critical system applications supporting high transaction systems.
• Must have demonstrated experience in building software preferably in domains that require high through-put and low-latency.
• Must be an engineering leader with a technology background and the ability to engage in cross functional priorities.
• Team player and passionate for building a culture of innovation and flawless execution.
• Must have demonstrated success in innovation and agile development discipline
• Demonstrated ability to lead, recruit, grow and retain high-caliber talent at scale. Experienced organizing, running, supporting, and growing software development organizations.
• Professional experience in ideation, execution, delivery and supporting products in Production.
• Capable of forming and advocating independent viewpoint. Demonstrate strong skills influencing, negotiating, and communicating.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to adapt to the situation and audience. Team player.
• Experience in Java/J2EE technologies, Container and database technologies
• Experience in Web technologies frameworks
• Experience in or familiarity with mobile development, native and/or hybrid technologies
• Consumer/user facing application development experience
• Exposure to payments service applications is a plus
