Director Risk Governance & Tooling
Main Purpose of role
This is an exciting opportunity to part of the 2nd line Enterprise Risk team in Vocalink Limited, a company that enables the payments of 90% of salaries, 70% of utility bills, most ATM transactions and every cheque cleared in the UK.
The successful candidate will become part of a high functioning team, dedicated to delivering a robust, secure and resilient service to 60+million citizens every day with transactional volume of 11 billion/year and total annual transactional value in excess of GBP6 Trillion.
The appointee will be responsible for supporting the Enterprise Risk strategy and delivery models to meet the growth needs of Vocalink and for meeting the operational and technical requirements of our core payments covered by the Vocalink business model including Bacs, Faster Payments, Imaging Cheque System, LINK, Payport, BGC.
The role holder will be:
• Responsible for the governance that supports the Vocalink Strategic Risk Management Framework
• Support the development and maintenance of the Risk Governance, Infrastructure and Tools that are required to support the Framework
• Plan the development and roll out of Risk Tooling in Vocalink, working and aligning with other Group functions
• Support the VP of Enterprise Risk in compiling MI and reporting for the ERC and BRC
• Ensure the Governance of the business remains up to date, effective and relevant and that delegated authorities are adhered to
• Work closely with certain 1st line functions to support their overall risk management approach, giving risk guidance where required
• Support the VP of Enterprise Risk with co-ordinating stress testing and scenarios analyses that are requested by the BRC and ERC or the CEO/CRO
• Run regulatory review processes on behalf of the CEO/CRO, ensure information is provided and colleagues are briefed ahead of meetings
• Assist with providing risk extracts and support into Schemes such as Pay.UK and LINK
• Support senior management and the Board/Audit Committee in ensuring that risks are mitigated to the desired level
• Develop training materials for Governance and Risk Tooling, attend training events and help ensure that colleagues at all levels are performing their desired role as per the Risk Framework
• Support the implementation of cross-functional initiatives on enterprise risk governance, policies and procedures
• Support other activities in the Enterprise Risk Team as necessary
Knowledge, Skills and Expertise
Essential
• Recent experience of using Risk Management Tools such as IBM Open Pages and Archer
• Strong knowledge of the requirements of good risk governance
• Effective in the production of risk reporting
• Strong knowledge of Operational Risk best practice
• Relevant experience of working in a complex (preferably multi-national) stakeholder environment that includes complex customers and regulators.
• Ability to articulate themselves clearly and concisely to a broad range of senior and junior stakeholders, acting as a bridge as well as guide for the implementation of new governance, tooling or reporting capabilities.
• Strong influencing skills; organizationally savvy
• Communication - requires effective communication skills - both written and oral - to deal with large diverse customer base (internal and external)
