Position Summary:
The PMO (Project Management Office) Engineering Director´s primary responsibility is to manage a team of 3-5 project/program managers that lead Bracing and Supports' new product development pipeline. The PMO team is responsible for leading cross-functional teams to deliver new products to the market with a goal of reducing time to market while significantly improving launch success. Additionally, the Director will be responsible for the process of managing and reporting on the portfolio of active projects in the pipeline. The candidate must have a proven track record of implementing change in a dynamic, fast-moving environment. The PMO Director will be responsible for ensuring the team produces consistent project planning, technical development plans, risk management, coordinating and executing verification and validation testing, and ensuring design rigor consistent with Medical Device standards. The PMO Director will also play an active role in Bracing and Supports' annual and multi-year strategic initiatives such as planning opportunities for new organic growth, evaluation of acquisitions, and large-scale business process improvement activities using lean methodologies.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage a team of project/program managers who lead new product development projects for Bracing and SupportsAccountable for successful NPD projects from feasibility phase through final product launch, in collaboration with the R&D management team and the Bracing and Supports leadership teamRecruit, hire, evaluate, develop, and engage high performing personnelAs time permits, lead NPD projects directly to augment the bandwidth of the PMO teamEnsure all project managers adhere to the main principles of project management:Lead cross-functional project teams (Marketing, Regulatory, Quality, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Engineering)Develop and maintain plans to achieve the target condition; identify variations to plan and execute correctionsManage all project team meetings and all operational activities needed by the projectEstablish and execute a communication plan to keep all levels of the organization informedResolve conflicts as they occur; escalate to the project sponsor situations that could change the plan of recordEnsure that the project is delivered achieving the specification, timeline, and cost targetsManage project risks and resolve issuesDevelop in collaboration with other departments the entire project documentation (DHF), Engineering Change Orders (ECO), and Device Master Record (DMR) updates following approved procedures
Strategy Development as a member of the R&D leadership team
Develop strategies for Bracing and Supports, including requirements for new product development, determination of new skills or capabilities, and identification of acquisition targetsUnderstand market trends, healthcare professional's needs, competitive strategies, etc. and use this knowledge to guide development of plans and productsParticipate in the annual strategy refresh to make Bracing and Supports successful in its mission
Continuous Improvement
Work with cross functional leaders to improve the New Product Development processDevelop and improve third party relationships that can increase the capacity, efficiency, and effectiveness of Bracing and Supports' NPD effortsDevelop competency in the most relevant EGX tools, including Accelerated Product Development, Root Cause Countermeasure, and Transactional Process Improvement.
Minimum Basic Qualifications:
Education/Degree/FieldBachelors in Engineering (or similar)5-10 years work experienceExperience with medical device product developmentRole-driven Skills/Competencies/KnowledgeExperience leading a teamDemonstrated understanding of full product lifecycleMotivation and interest to work in the highly regulated medical devices worldExperience in embedded systems (mixed design, mechanical, electronics, software)Ability to influence individuals and groups to resolve conflicts and achieve objectivesPMP certification or similar training

As needed. Estimated 15% of time
