How will you make an impact in this role?
The Director of Project Management is responsible for leading the management of multiple interrelated projects over various business units within American Express. The Director of Project Management manages the Project Management team that delivers solution-oriented, project workplans, on time and within budget with a focus on driving results and client satisfaction. The Director of Project Management continuously assesses the health of internal processes, tools and systems to identify gaps and training needs.
Collaborate with Leadership Teams across various subject areas to facilitate seamless operation in the workflow management to drive deliverability, technology implementation and solutions consulting projects. Requirements of this position include handling staffing and project based matters, handle multiple tasks, work with tight deadlines and under pressure. The Director of Project Management must form a strong relationship with their Account, Creative, Strategy, and Production counterparts to collectively take ownership of building client relationships and drive business goals. Responsible for ensuring project scope, deliverables, and resources are well defined, risk is identified and mitigated, and change impact is addressed at both a project and portfolio level.

Partner with Client Leadership to manage client needs and expectations based on specific marketing initiatives focusing on project planning and flawless executionComplete multi-dependency projects and resolve critical project-based situationsDevelop comprehensive work plans, including determining scopes, developing schedules and budgets that accurately reflect scope of work, with specific focus on consulting-type engagements and deliverablesIdentify business needs for delivery support and appropriately align resources against those needs - educate teams when necessary on roles and responsibilitiesHas the foresight to see beyond explicit assignments and identify broaderlonger term opportunities or ways to improve current client deliverablesConsistently sets clear expectations with the team for their role in delivering to the project regarding tasks and deliverable - can delegate appropriately and successfullyPartner with clients, vendors and partner agencies in a positive, professional and constructive way to establish solid relationshipsHas demonstrated ability to lead client discussions on project plans to ensure Client understands tradeoffs and approval processCommunicate scope change, resourcing and financial implications to Senior Management in a clear and timely mannerIdentify gaps in project plans and educate the team on finding closureRaises issues appropriately, proactively and professionally at all timesForge strong relationships with internal clients - demonstrate ability to manage at various levels from top-down, bottom-up and acrossSuccessfully lead large teams to develop risk mitigation plans (when appropriate)Negotiate conflict and manage differences of opinion, and communicate with difficult client/team members effectivelyStrong team builder with client and cross-capability teams, clarifying roles and expectationsTrack and maintain budgets of program to ensure agency profitabilityHigh level of competency around resource management, utilization and reportingHas the ability and skill to challenge time estimates and fundamentally understands level of effort on difficult and intangible tasksCommunicate to large teams and across inter-departmentsRespond constructively to mistakes and setbacksMaintain positive demeanor and "can do" attitude
Minimum Qualifications:

Salary Range: $130,000.00 to $205,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits
