  Capital One is looking for a Product Director to build out the next generation of digital experiences and lead the company through the next stage of growth led by technological innovations. You will collaborate with Designers, Developers and others across the business to invent features and experiences that make Capital One even more engaging for both dealers and consumers.

  As a product director, you’ll be working with senior product leaders to discover and shape new product and business opportunities across impactful areas of consumer finance. We use human-centered design techniques, and we always keep the customer at the heart of our work. We’re moving our product development process to a dual-track agile model, ensuring that product research and discovery is continuous throughout delivery.

  You’ll lead one or more cross-functional product teams to define roadmaps, drive delivery and discovery activities, and put next-generation consumer financial products in the market. Some of these products may be in partnership with Capital One’s existing businesses in Card, Bank, Financial Services, & Commercial Banking, and some may be targeted to build new platforms of growth. You’ll also play a key role in shaping our culture and our people. You’ll provide mentorship, leadership, and guidance for your teammates.

  In this role, you’ll be expected to demonstrate proficiency in five key areas:

  You’ll deeply immerse yourself in knowing your internal and/or external customer(s) by employing empathy and design thinking to define broad-scale solutions that provide breakthrough leverage.

  You’ll model adaptability by encouraging continuous evolution to product strategy in light of industry trends, emerging solutions, new insights and changing customer and business needs

  Business Focused:

  You’ll deeply learn the financial drivers, externalities, and points of leverage within your domain to identify new products or product enhancements that drive sustainable value for Capital One.

  You’ll be promote a culture anchored in data, used to instrument products, validate outcomes, drive insights, and manage the business both tactically and strategically

  Technology Driven:

  You’ll be responsible for fostering a strong agile discipline and inspiring teams to continuously improve delivery evidenced through key agility metrics.

  You’ll partner with Technology leaders to influence end-state architecture and drive secure, resilient, performant and scalable technology solutions that solve material customer and business problems.

  You’ll govern the responsible and efficient application of technology resources by assessing opportunities for reusing existing solutions, clearly defining minimum viable products, and always building with extensibility in mind

  Integrated Problem Solving:

  Develop and champion a bold vision that drives meaningful outcomes by embracing the art of the possible.

  Build frameworks for complex decision making that enable effective debate and accelerate getting to the right answer.

  Transformational Leadership:

  You’ll establish a long-term product portfolio strategy, informed by customer and business needs, and partner with leaders and stakeholders to regularly drive alignment, secure resources and overcome impediments

  You’ll attract, grow, empower, and inspire top product talent as they develop and deliver on their local product strategy in an iterative, outcome-focused and well-managed way

  As part of the Business Cards and Payments (BCP) Data, Credit Infrastructure and Machine Learning team, you will help drive the strategy and execution for BCP's risk, fraud and valuations models, data tools and capabilities, and well managed process roadmaps. You will work closely with data science, analyst, design, engineering, process and project management stakeholders and customers to understand their priorities/challenges and identify high leverage opportunities.

  You will use a data-driven approach to define, track, and measure key performance and business/model/system metrics to help us make smarter business decisions, develop goals, and build better products and capabilities. You will grow, mentor, and develop a team of product managers into leaders who can help us deliver on our roadmap and strategic priorities.

  As part of the role, you will have access to:

  Working with senior product leadership to bring product vision to life

  Developing product strategy and business cases

  Leading ideation, roadmap prioritization, goal/metric setting, story writing, project execution, A/B testing, and product roll-out strategy

  Defining product learning agenda and OKRs to measure success/failure

  Leading discovery of new product and business opportunities

  Managing one or more product explorations across all areas of the business

  Cultivating a fast-moving, results-driven culture that also prioritizes continuous learning

  Building relationships with thought leaders, startups, VCs, meetup groups, and academics

  We want you if you are:

  Entrepreneurial with the ability to identify and prioritize opportunities in highly ambiguous contexts

  Have a knowledge of Start-up product or business leadership experience

  A Track record of contributing to and executing strategy, creating advocacy/alignment and being accountable for outcomes

  Proven ability to attract, retain and develop top talent team members

  Product or business leadership experience in both a startup/growth company and also in a large tech company setting

  Financial Technology start up experience

  Leading technology company experience

  Fluency in human-centered product discovery methods such as design thinking and service design

  Data-driven product and platform development experience

  Experience shipping multiple products across variety of platforms and channels

  Experience with Internet of Things, Payments, Machine Learning, AI, Voice, or other emerging technologies

  Basic Qualifications:

  Bachelor’s Degree or military experience

  At least 7 years of experience in digital product management

  Preferred Qualifications:

  Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering

  MBA or Master’s degree

  5+ years of experience in Agile product management

  5+ years of experience translating business strategy and analysis into consumer facing digital products

  The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

  New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $233,100 - $266,000 for Director, Product Management

  Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

  This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
