POSITION DETAILS
The Graduate Center's Advanced Science Research Center (ASRC) of the City University of New York (CUNY) is a 200,000 square-foot facility in upper Manhattan, designed to promote interdisciplinary collaboration among scientists in five areas of research and innovation: nanoscience, photonics, structural biology, neuroscience, and environmental sciences. Reporting to the Executive Director/Associate Dean for the Sciences, the Director of Operations and Deputy Executive Director will support the Executive Director in facilitating the day-to-day operations across the ASRC's scientific and administrative units (e.g.; financial, facilities, health and safety, research initiatives and research cores, etc.).
Based at the ASRC location in West Harlem, New York City, the incumbent will supervise staff and work closely with the five scientific initiative directors and the 17 Core Facility directors to provide the necessary assessments, planning, and improvement implementation to the ASRC's infrastructure, communication, facilities, and eventsmanagement.
Duties include but are not limitedto:
Overall oversight of the Core Facilities, including user onboarding, contract management, accounts receivable, and finance management.
Supervises select Core Facilities at the ASRC.
Coordinates communication between the Initiatives and Cores and various operations in the ASRC, the Graduate Center, CUNY Central, and other New York-area institutions as needed.
Works with colleagues at the Graduate Center and the ASRC to establish and chair operations-related committees as needed (e.g. compliance, health and safety, communications, events, facilities, etc.).
Serves as a resource for faculty and administrators regarding the Graduate Center's and CUNY's policies and procedures.
Serves as a liaison with CUNY's technology transfer office in relation to IPprotection.
Develops and disseminates standard operating procedures and policies for building functions. This includes, but is not limited to, access and use of facilities (core and building) and operational guidelines for central resources at the ASRC in compliance with all regulatory agencies and guidelines. Keeps up to date on changing requirements and implements updates.
Manages day-to-day administrative functions of the ASRC. Reviews and assesses policies and processes, streamlines for efficiency, updates supporting documentation, and communicates changes with relevant parties and ASRC community.
Assists with the hiring of new ASRCemployees. Prepares and assists in paperwork for hiring, serves on hiring committees, oversees onboarding, listserv and database management, and security and access for new hire.
Supervises the ASRC Director of Facilities; also directly coordinates facilities maintenance, renovation and space allocationrequests on behalf of the ASRC.
Represents the ASRC at meetings with internal and external colleagues andstakeholders; provides tours of the ASRC’s facilities as needed for visitors.
Oversees events, including all internal CUNY and external space rentals, and the associated auxiliary accounts. Requests, manages, approves, and tracks invoicing and accounts receivables. Manages contracting for auxiliary accounts.
Interfaces between Graduate Center General Counsel, the CUNY Central Office legal branch, and outside users. Acts as central point of contact for contract discussions and negotiations.
Performs other duties as assigned which are reasonably within the scope of this job classification.

All full-time and part-time CUNY staff are expected to work in-person at their campus office 70% of their work time. For full-time staff, this is equivalent to 7 out of 10 days of in-person work in a two-week period (e.g., 7 days in-person, 3 days remote). Remote days must be pre-approved by the direct supervisor. This hybrid work schedule is subject to change.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree and eight years' relevant experience required.
A preferred candidate will have:
A PhD or other Doctoral Degree in the sciences and 6 or more years of relevant administrative experience are strongly preferred.
Experience working in ahigher education or non-profit researchadministration and/or in atechnology-driven otherscientificoperation.
Knowledge of equipmentand protocolsassociated with some aspects of scientificresearch.
Strong written and verbal communicationskills
Extensive knowledge and understanding of state-of-the-art scientific technology.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Sponsorship will not be offered for this position.

$124,656-$141,858/year. Salary commensurate with education and experience.
