Position Summary
The Merchandising Operations team develops and recommends strategies to improve business performance by working closely with Merchandising leadership in analyzing market trends and dynamics, vendor/brand economics and productivities, customer loyalty, and related assortment optimization opportunities.
The Director Master Data Management will demonstrate intrinsic curiosity about the CVS front store shopper and be a subject matter expert when it comes to understanding front store total data requirements. This colleague needs to be experienced in identifying, understanding, and synthesizing retail business hypotheses while leading operations of a team in charge of critical business functions. Success in this role will hinge on the individual's ability to build healthy cross functional collaboration, lead and grow a team, communicate effectively, and apply strong organizational and project management practices.
The role will have consistent exposure and engagement with VP levels.
Strong project management skills to successfully deliver key initiatives against project metrics
Master of data: Identifies customer insights, trends, changes in trends and outliers. Searches for root cause, proving and disproving key hypotheses. Understands all the analytical tools at our disposal – including external, non-traditional data sources – and utilizes them all to drive analysis. Partners with key stakeholders across cross-functional teams to develop and interpret data.
Find business opportunities: Discovers new customer patterns and behaviors, identifying relevant implications to the business and informing priorities.
Supports the development of robust business cases to support and prioritize new concepts/opportunities.
Takes initiative to socialize key findings and/or opportunity areas and work cross-functionally to identify appropriate next steps.
Spearhead customer business insight leadership requests. Develops keen understanding of customer and business opportunities with the ability to identify both stated and unstated questions to be answered.
Identifies appropriate customer and retail data sources. Structures, leads, and pressure-tests the analytics to provide a point of view and lead the team to solution.
Leads self and team to think beyond the first cut of the analytical answer to discover new customer patterns and behaviors, identify relevant implications to the business and next steps to dig further.
Required Qualifications
Knowledge of:
Team leadership and management
Retail merchandising, supply chain, and retail operations
Expert in data cataloging and management systems (STIBO experience preferred)
Expert in syndicated data (Neilson, Circana, other)
Experience applying process improvement methodologies
Skill In:
Strong business acumen with the ability to identify and track effective operating metrics necessary to evaluate business case success
Highly motivated to be self-sufficient and able to operate without close supervision
Refined communication skills across all levels of organization hierarchy
Ability To:
Clearly articulate ideas, consider others point of view, and work well with ambiguity
Superior relationship building with cross-functional teams to deliver results through excellent partnership, communication and negotiating skills

Knowledge of:
STIBO, SQL, Snowflake or other major languages

Ability To:
Play a critical role is helping to streamline and standardize process and ways of working

Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$100,000.00 - $231,500.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
