  Gannett/USA Today Studios seeks a Director of Local Video to create compelling video content that engages and grows digital audiences. The ideal candidate should have deep expertise in local journalism and a nuanced understanding of the local news landscape. We require someone highly motivated to connect with communities through thoughtful, smartly creative, and often fast-moving videos that inform, uplift, delight, and educate.

  This role demands substantial digital leadership experience, proficiency with data analytics, and the ability to execute video content strategies across multiple video teams. A genuine and creative commitment to driving engaging regional and local video content experiences across our platform and on social is essential. If you are passionate about telling stories through video to help communities better understand themselves, this is the opportunity for you.

  The Director of Local Video will work closely with the VP of Video in developing strategies and overachieving goals. This person will also develop deep collaborative relationships across local property content leads, Audience growth leads, and staff.

  The Director of Local Video should have experience in a digital or broadcast news environment, with proficiency in social video production. Fluency with analytics tools, including Google Analytics and Parse.ly, is necessary, along with polished communication and collaboration abilities. Preference will be given to those with proven success in developing audience growth strategies and fostering productive partnerships.

  Responsibilities: Provide strategic direction and management of video content teams that create digital and live stream content across multiple local and regional newsrooms. Conceptualize and oversee special editorial projects aimed at enhancing local video impact and reach. Track performance metrics and generate regular reports on video view data. Oversee all facets of production, including writing, planning, logistics, technical direction, and editing. Lead the coordination of assignments, planning, and programming. Collaborate with multiple teams across the USA TODAY Network to align on video requests and ideas. Optimize video content to drive revenue across platforms including site, social media, and syndication. Partner with local and national ad sales team to answer client RFPs and ideate video opportunities for high value sponsorships. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related discipline. 10+ years of experience with 5-7 years in digital video roles and 2-3 years of management experience. Demonstrated editorial judgment and digital video production skills. Knowledge of key digital and social video platforms. Skilled in coverage planning and coordination. Ability to leverage data analytics to inform engagement strategies. Strong leadership, team management, and communication skills. Video production expertise, including writing, editing, and optimization for digital/social platforms. Proficiency with relevant technology such as CMS systems, digital video, and web analytics. Experience with tools like Adobe Premiere and Photoshop preferred. Employment is contingent on passing a post-offer, pre-employment background check. Application Instructions:
