The Consumer Insights Lead works with decision makers to influence decisions for a brand or business entity. This requires leading a strong insights team that also works consultatively with key clients and peers in data & analytics, competitive intelligence and product. This also requires tailoring and translating primary consumer research, customer analytics, consumer/market trends into timely, accurate, insightful and predictive information for key constituencies to help drive business results by vetting current strategies and testing new executions across the full marketing mix. This role ensures the best data and research methods are applied, accurately analyzing the data, interpreting, drawing conclusions, and making clear and compelling recommendations to the executive team at the brand.
Recipe for Success - What's "in store" for the role
Establishes productive working relationships with senior leadership at the brand and in PDL. Builds Consumer Insights plan and practice within a banner using a mix of internal and external capabilities within OpEx and CapEx targets.Directs the consistent, accurate and validated collection of insights and analytics. Translates business objectives to project objectives, deliverables, timelines; define appropriate data sources, metrics and usage; lead all aspects of the analysis of results, synthesis of information and provide actionable findings to the business.Collaborates on analytical models focused on understanding/predicting consumer behavior and attitudes, which supports the business in decision-making and monitoring results.Partners with counterparts in advanced analytics, customer loyalty/engagement, competitive intelligence, UX design research, merchandising, marketing services to bring forth best-in-class insights and a comprehensive view of shoppers and consumers.Manage vendor relationships and contracts. Reports action-oriented results that are understandable by a diverse constituency.Responds quickly with accurate information with increasingly complex market/competitive conditions.Maintains objectivity in the search for "truth" especially when it runs counter to popular opinion and supports long term sales growth for ADUSA brands by advocating on behalf of the customer.Promote standard methodologies including serving as the advocate for the private, secure use of customer information.Responsible for managing assigned staff of 2-5. Responsible for hiring, training, and developing associates. Manages performance through performance planning, coaching, appraisal and disciplinary efforts.
The Essentials In Your Cart - The required ingredients
10+ years in-depth, seasoned experience in customer insights and analytics at a market research, consulting or packaged goods or retail firm.FMCG or retail experience preferred.Extra Spices - What you should bring to the table Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Marketing Research, Psychology, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or Economics. Master's Degree preferred
