Description
BridgeValley Community and Technical College invites applications for the Director of Advising and Student Success. Reporting to the Dean of Students, the Director of Student Success is responsible for overseeing and providing guidance to the areas of Career Services, Tutoring Services, Retention, and Advising. The Director of Student Success will develop and manage programs and efforts designed to enhance the overall educational experience of students by providing programs and services that improve the transition, retention, graduation, and transfer rates.
The Director will work closely with the Director of ASCEND to administer advising services to all incoming students. The Director supports the mission of the College by addressing student equity, gaps in student achievement, and the needs of the whole student through the coordination of student-centered support programs and mentoring. This position is non-classified, full-time, and benefits eligible. The salary range for this position is 39,500-63,300. Actual offer will be commensurate with education and experience.
Examples of Duties
Responsible for overseeing the development, direction, assessment, and support services for students in the areas of Advising, Retention, Career Services, and Tutoring
Provide leadership for ongoing assessment of initiatives, related programming and services to assess the needs, learning outcomes, and satisfaction of students served by the Office of Student Success Programs
Collaborate with professionals across the campus and the community by attending meetings, providing workshops, and trainings to strengthen student support and involvement Contact and meet regularly with students to discuss needs, monitor academic progress, and assist with the resolution of academic and personal challenges
Work closely with the Director of ASCEND programs to ensure accurate grant monitoring and case management for comprehensive program of academic, advisement, career, and financial support services for a designated cohort of students
Responsible for providing semester/annual reports to the Dean of Students
Oversee Career Services platforms such as Handshake, GradCast, WOWI, etc.
Collect, analyze, and distribute data on alumni for assessment purposes through the graduate report
Serve as the college administrator for AdvisorTrac .
Collaborates with appropriate campus departments to ensure a positive onboarding experience for incoming students.
Coordinates the onboarding experience through collaboration and reviewing processes and procedures Manage and update website content for respective areas Coordinates with academic deans and chairs to provide advisor training each semester.
Works with academic affairs to ensure students are placed in appropriate course levels at the start of each semester Manage a caseload of students for advising and retention purposes.
Other duties as assigned
This position may require travel and flexible hours. A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation is required.
Qualifications
Master’s Degree with a preference for major in Counseling, Student Personnel (Guidance and Counseling), Social Work, Psychology, Education, or
related discipline 3 years of related experience Other Skills & Abilities Community college experience preferred
Ability to effectively communicate ideas and information, in written and oral format to students, faculty and staff.
Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work as an effective team member.
Strong skills with computers, in setting priorities, organization, and time management.
