Primary responsibilities
The Director supports the North America leadership team and the VP, Strategy and Transformation, and A&P Analytics on:
• Developing the North America strategy across brands and functions and lead stakeholder engagement on strategy development, deployment, and implementation
• Executing key strategic and transformation initiatives in the region, prioritizing focus areas (Channel/retailer) - business development, new sources of growth, and implementation of objectives and strategic initiatives
• Understanding the North America market and market trends (e.g., market sizing and projections) with a focus on Channel/distribution, retailer, and DMAs
• Retail analytics to understand market performance with competitive insights to support market share growth, developing channel/retailer strategies in partnership with NA Commercial, Online, and brand leadership teams
• Evaluating the region's performance and drivers to identify gaps and opportunities based on trends
Specifically, she/he/they will:
• Lead the development of sections of the North America Strategy presentation (in collaboration with the Strategy team and regional leadership)
• Project, manage and monitor the execution of specific aspects of the North America Strategy (and / or the regional implementation of global projects)
• Help support projects that have high impact for the Region - in collaboration with the brands, Key Account Management teams, regional functions and/or NA leadership. These projects may include supporting brands or account leads in understanding regional or local market trends and opportunities, developing retailer / channel strategies and plans. Support may take the form of analytics, thought partnership and leadership, and / or project management structure.
• Perform relevant share / market / performance analytics - e.g., to inform strategy or key business decisions
• Help develop junior resources on Strategy team in terms of presentation skills, analytics and general development
Key Accountabilities
• Support the development of the Region's 3-year strategy presentation in collaboration with brands, functions, the North America Strategy team and North America leadership:
o Drives timelines and leads stakeholder management
o Leads specific sections of the strategy development and presentation
o Coordinates with NA brands and functions, and with Corporate Strategy
o Ensures proper communication, understanding and alignment on the Strategy across stakeholders
• Support to the execution of the North America strategy:
o Helps translate the strategy into action plans (including identifying / prioritizing / staging key initiatives and developing KPIs)
o Develop onboarding materials / playbooks to educate brands / functions on the strategy, and on key levers / plans to execute
o Supports thinking and provide PMO support to key cross-branded / cross-functional projects in North America (as well as the regional implementation of critical global projects)
o Supports the development of specific channel or retailer strategies
o Helps report on regional performance in the US (in collaboration with Finance); progress vs. strategic initiatives; highlight issues and suggest solutions
• Support the region in:
o Sizing the market (channel/retailer)
o Understanding market trends in US and Canada (channel & distribution shifts, retail performance, DMA analysis)
o Evaluating company performance (by channel / account / geography)
o Identifying channel / distribution and business model opportunities across brands
o Developing specific regional or local market reports (e.g., Senior leadership market visits, regional market trends, performance / trends in specific types of trade areas)
o Identifying, prioritizing, and sizing key opportunities for North America (including new ideas to address consumer needs or shape the industry)
o Identifying required process or organizational improvements
• Special Projects to targeted to support ELC growth at the brand / channel /retailer level providing deep analytics and insights that drive to action
Qualifications
Qualifications
• BS in quantitative or business management field; MBA preferred
• Min 8 years of experience in a quantitative / analytical role -- Private Equity, Banking, Consulting, or Consumer / Retail / Transformation preferred
• Understanding of the Consumer / Retail industry and requirements; interest / passion for Beauty
• Outstanding quantitative and analytical skills (expertise in Excel, modeling, and ideally in more advanced tools); speed-to-output
• Ability to synthesize large amounts of data into meaningful conclusions / recommendations
• Good business judgment and intellectual curiosity
• Strong problem solving skills; pro-activeness in identifying challenges and finding solutions
• Strong planning and project management capabilities; ability to prioritize effectively
• Ability to work independently but also to manage / interact effectively with multiple stakeholders (including senior stakeholders)
• Be able to multi-task, quickly ramp up and manage multiple different topics in parallel, effectively prioritize work, coordinate across multiple stakeholders, and proactively find solutions to address business issues
• Excellent communication and presentation skills (verbal, written and visual)
• Ability to focus on key business questions, and convey messages clearly and concisely (including to senior audiences)
• Positive mindset and eagerness to learn and drive value
• Proficiency in all Microsoft applications (esp. Excel, PPT, Word)
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $117,000 to $202,100. Exact salary depends on several.
