About Director, Global Copy - Bumble and bumble

  Bumble and bumble began as an NYC salon in 1977, where we clipped, colored and styled our way into prominence - with a strong design aesthetic and extraordinary products. We are deeply passionately, and fearlessly dedicated to the craft of hair.

  Position Summary: Reporting to the Vice President, Global Creative, this position will kick start creative campaign processes and ensure consistency in brand messaging across all platforms (digital, print, social) and touch points (advertising, in-store, events). This role will lead new product launches, collaborate on requests, and integrate feedback from various departments including Product Marketing, Consumer Engagement, Product Development, Education, Online, Social, and Visual Merchandising. It will also oversee freelance copywriters.

  Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the principal writer for product launches, overseeing all aspects from packaging development to campaign execution.

  • Take charge of maintaining copy consistency and ensuring expert quality control for brand voice, positioning, and legal claims on a daily basis.

  • Collaborate with designers from various teams to create captivating creative concepts and decks with strong storytelling perspectives.

  • Manage a team of 1-2 freelancers to ensure quality writing and deliverables.

  • Collaborate with Product Marketing and Product Development to craft product names, positioning, and consumer-friendly interpretations of key claims.

  • Ensure the consistency of brand messaging and tone in training materials for our Flagship Hairdressers + Salon Network by working with the Education team.

  • Review and refine press releases, invitations, banners, and fact sheets in conjunction with the Global Consumer Engagement Team.

  • Partner closely with regional teams to align programs with market and retailer needs while adhering to the Global vision.

  • Lead all copy for in-store visual merchandising including tester units and displays.

  • Create concepts, storyboards, and scripts for brand videos.

  • Serve as the primary legal liaison for vetting all copy related to product claims and headline registrations.

  • Possess a deep passion for high-quality copywriting in all its forms and its ability to inspire and delight.

  • Highly comfortable working in a fast-paced environment that requires agile thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Supervise, edit, and mentor junior writers and freelancers.

  • A digital native with a deep understanding of how language functions in print, digital, and moving image formats.

  • Thrives in a highly collaborative environment and excels in cross-departmental teamwork, always bringing a can-do spirit to the table.

  • Has a strong ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects with meticulous attention to detail, even under the most demanding deadlines.

  • Demonstrates a profound understanding or and passion for the beauty marketplace.

  • Brings ample experience in writing about products, consistently focusing on tone, context, and overall coherence.

  • 8+ years of writing experience in related fields.

  • Ideally holds a BFA or BA degree in Journalism, Communications, or English.

  • Possesses prior experience in the beauty brand or beauty editorial industry.

  The anticipated base salary range for this position is $117,000 to $202,100. Exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. Salary range may vary based on geographic location. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for participation in a highly competitive bonus program with possibility for overachievement based on performance and company results as well as participation in the share incentive plan.
