Enterprise Data Governance & Platforms (EDGP) is part of the larger Enterprise Digital and Data Solutions (EDDS) organization. EDGP improves the customer experience and drives business growth through robust enterprise-wide data policies and governance and enabling a data-driven culture, while developing digital and data platforms that provide insightful customer relationships and allow users to leverage enterprise-wide data capabilities.

The Enterprise Data Governance (EDG) team is part of the American Express Data Office, our global data center of excellence responsible for realizing the potential of our data. EDG provides the principles, policies, processes, architecture, and governance to enable consistent, trusted, and usable data to drive accurate data-driven business outcomes.
Functional Responsibilities:
The Director of EDG Data Activation will lead a team responsible for supporting federated data offices and Amex business units in bringing critical data under governance of Amex Data Governance Policy, referred to as Data Activation. The role will also provide consultative support and training to support governance of critical data across the enterprise.
The Director will be responsible for:
Supporting federated data offices in the identification of critical data to bring under governance.
Guiding federated data management teams through the data activation activities, supporting success completion and ultimately compliance with Policy requirements.
Providing consultative and training support to data management teams on data activation activities and processes.
Coordinating with product and technology teams to automate data activation via uptake and usage of data management tools (e.g., data cataloguing, automated metadata and lineage capture, data quality).
A successful candidate will have:
8 years experience and deep understanding of Data Management and Data Governance concepts (metadata, lineage, data quality, etc.) and related metrics to monitor compliance of Data Governance policy and standards.
Experience leading large teams to implement major Data Management / Data Governance programs, preferably at the Enterprise level.
Basic experience / knowledge of Data Governance / Data Management tools (e.g., Collibra).
Ability to collaborate, influence, and communicate across multiple stakeholders and levels of leadership, speaking at the appropriate level of detail to both business executives and technology teams.
Excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to engage, influence, and encourage partners and stakeholders to drive collaboration and alignment.
High degree of organization, individual initiative, results and solution oriented, and personal accountability and resiliency; and proven track record of driving results in a fast-paced environment often with significant ambiguity and needing to make decisions with less than perfect information.
Qualifications
Salary Range: $150,000.00 to $225,000.00 annually bonus equity (if applicable) benefits
