Job Description About This Role
The Development Asset Lead (DAL) will serve as the full-time leader of one or more clinical stage portfolio asset(s) within Development. The DAL is accountable for providing strategic and multi-disciplinary drug development expertise to maximize the value creation and delivery of assets within the Development portfolio. As the leader of the asset team, the DAL drives the development and execution of an integrated development plan (IDP) for the asset with associated budget and resources. It is expected that the DAL works seamlessly across Biogen functions, ensuring all functional voices are represented, and demonstrates strong integration of business considerations of time, risk, and value into the planning and execution of the IDP.
The DAL is accountable to Biogen governance mechanisms for asset related actions and decisions and will represent the asset at portfolio governance forums, in discussions with PDC Leads (where applicable), Development Unit heads, and other senior stakeholders in the organization.
The DAL is responsible for defining asset goals and deliverables that are aligned with the integrated development plan, ensuring that projects are effectively being managed, resources are strategically applied, and fostering a healthy and effective team. Through strategic partnership with the Program Manager, the DAL ensures effective, efficient, and timely execution of the IDP.
What You’ll Do
Lead the development and ongoing refinement of the integrated plan for one or more assets to maximize value creation and efficient executionEstablish and maintain clear asset goals, timelines, and risk management in partnership with the project management function Drive accountability of functional team members and delivery of functional level plans that integrate with the overarching asset strategy and timelineRepresent the asset at portfolio governance forums and in discussions with PDC leads (where applicable), Development Unit heads, and other senior stakeholders in the organizationEngage proactively with Biogen stakeholders and governance to support asset execution and portfolio decision-making that effectively integrates scientific and business considerations for the best overall path for the assetCreate and maintain the conditions for a strong team culture that facilitates effective planning and execution of the asset strategy. Actively contribute and participate in department community of practice to share learnings and promote program synergies and adjacencies Qualifications Required Skills
Bachelor’s degree with 10-12 years of drug development experience in pharma or biotechDemonstrated track record of strategic leadership of teams that have delivered on complex cross-functional goals; ideally a documented track record of success in a similar cross-functional or portfolio leadership role at Biogen or a previous organization.Prior experience in creating and executing a clinical development plan aligned to the MPP/TPP and broader TA/Franchise strategy.Scientifically and clinically astute with strong learning agility, translating to a demonstrated ability to develop a deep understanding of therapeutic areas and optimal development strategies.Demonstrated ability to understand the competitive and business implications of emerging scientific and medical data.Prospective candidate must be able to perform this role in a US Hybrid based assignment either in Cambridge, MA or RTP, NC.
