The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Director, Property Underwriting
Provides expert technical underwriting assistance and formal referral approval for the Property line of business for Middle Market Multi-Industry, Public Entity, Energy, and Construction segments country-wide. Interacts with peer Underwriting Directors on large, complex Property referrals/consults. Assists Senior Director, Property Underwriting in strategy implementation, training, and audits. Fosters a cooperative and collaborative relationship with the field and strives for creative solutions without compromising underwriting standards.
Act as a subject matter expert for training, systems development, field CAT management, product capabilities, and other functions; participate in or lead significant projects of large scope and complexity. Assists Senior Director in creating guidance and guidelines in support of MM Industry Specialization strategy. Provides subject matter expertise and advisory support to Multi-Industry Underwriting Directors or profit center managers for complex referrals or unusual market developments. Evaluate, conduct, and document referrals from peer Underwriting Directors and the field at large on accounts or coverage with higher hazards, highest complexity, higher limits, or larger premium for the Property line of business identify creative solutions and build underwriter expertise and confidence while protecting the company's assets. Facilitate ongoing and frequent interaction with all stakeholders outside of required referral activities that build underwriter confidence and expertise. Visit field offices during key/busy periods to conduct referrals in person, participate in field underwriting audits, and conduct training sessions. Perform high-level quality control review for proper policy structure. Work closely with the underwriting support supervisors to identify quality gaps and required training. Serve in a lead capacity and acts as a resource to less experienced, promote best practices within the MM CUO underwriting director group, and lead/influence by example. Qualifications Expert-level knowledge of all aspects of coverage forms, exclusions, pricing, structure, rating, rating plans, loss forecasting, market knowledge. Advanced knowledge of insurance operations; claims, finance and actuarial concepts; regulatory environment; risk control/risk engineering; reinsurance; account management; product development; and industry trends. Must be a skilled collaborator who is willing to assess all sides of an issue, bring in others with expertise, and have the ability to advance the collaboration model. Advanced communication skills (written, verbal, presentation, listening) Approachability and tact Analyzing and problem solving Relationship and service driven Negotiation skills and ability to consistently and positively influence others 10+ years of relevant experience that includes reinsurance, coaching/developing others, working with brokers/agents and knowledgeable with market trends and developments Strong technical underwriting expertise; Experience in the Technical and/or Global UW Vertical highly preferred Experience in relevant markets; Ability to effectively partner with multiple stakeholders and building relationships; Experience with portfolio management About Us
