As AWS rapidly grows the business and team across International markets, we are seeking a Senior Leader to focus on the World-Wide Public Sector (WWPS) Partner channel. This will cover the verticals of government, education, NPO, regulated health and regulated financial services, an opportunity to build, shape and grow the channels serving these markets. The WWPS Partner role is the single-threaded leader for the AWS public sector partner business, which serves customers globally across all partner types. Our partners are force multipliers for migrating workloads to the cloud and modernizing enterprise applications serving customer missions with domain specific solutions. The role requires a strategic thinker with a company-wide perspective and high judgement; channel partners expect our leaders to be conversant and representative of “all Amazon.” As such, this role has substantial reach, requiring a leader with the experience and leadership skills to negotiate with Partner CEOs; develop and execute channel sales strategies, while complying with policy, regulation and statutes; represent the AWS business in channel headline news; and partner with Amazon businesses to engage government relationships. The role plays a highly visible role in partner execution on a world stage.
A successful leader will have a diverse competency portfolio, including channel technical readiness, solutions development, co-selling efforts, attainment on government contract vehicles, meeting contractual obligations, and proactive cross team collaboration that often spans across broader Amazon. Their capability and expertise will ultimately unlock public sector spend and contribute to commercial sales success, globally. The leader is accountable for all aspects of business performance, including sales, building and managing a global diverse team, and integrating the work of supporting teams like public policy, capture, contracts, marketing, security compliance, training, and public relations. The role defines the long-term vision and high-level plans over multiple years; creates mechanisms to drive business performance, partner experience, and operational effectiveness; and guides the work of many teams to achieve growth goals.
Leading a team of senior leaders, the WWPS Partner Leader will help shape and deliver on a strategy to build mind share and broad use of Amazon’s utility computing web services across public sector. They will be responsible for developing opportunity pipelines, evangelizing cloud computing, driving revenue, end user adoption and engagement at the CIO /CTO level. They will also be responsible for proactive collaboration with the AWS Partner Organization to help shape programs, initiatives and strategies in developing a robust partner ecosystem. The ideal candidate will be located in the greater Seattle, WA or Arlington, VA areas. This position will also require frequent travel to partner locations for senior level meetings.
Key job responsibilities
The ideal candidate will possess a senior channel leadership background that enables them to lead a diverse team of global sales leaders, partner account managers, partner development resources and programs managers, engaging the channel. The role will:
· Develop and implement strategic revenue growth plans, identify new business opportunities, and anticipate, understand, and react to market, channel and customer needs.
· Serve as the channel advocate by representing, responding, and advocating the “voice of the partner”.
· Review market analysis to determine partner needs regarding market requirements, incentives and programs.
· Work with marketing and PR to create a rich calendar campaign of programs for channel development, including content for activities such as educational events, partner trade shows, media coverage, and sales presentations.
· Engage directly with major public sector partners to facilitate solid relationships to help develop new programs and market/sales opportunities.
· Manage and develop teams of sales/ business development professionals as well as a solution architecture and program teams.
· Create strategic partnerships and alliances with the Amazon Partner Organization, public sector and commercial colleagues to assist in accelerating rapidly growing Cloud market.

Basic Qualifications
· 15+ years in a technology-related senior leadership/executive position.
· Experience leading global teams.
· Experience leading in a highly matrixed environment.
· Rich and diverse background of channel sales management.
· Significant experience in public sector (e.g., government and/or education) market direct and indirect business.
· Has built/grown or re-tuned an established multibillion-dollar business, ideally in a new market segment demonstrating year over year new business growth.
· People/sales management direct experience in a multi-tiered organization.
· Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills required.
· Broad partner network.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $224,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $333,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. This position is eligible for variable pay via a sales compensation plan. These plans pay according to achievement level against sales targets and/or business objectives. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
