The Leidos Airborne Solutions within the Defense Sector has an opening for a Digital Engineering Lead in support of our airborne and weapon system programs. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the application of Digital Engineering to enable a variety of missions capabilities and collaboration.
As the DE lead, you will lead the digital engineering (DE) architecture development for airborne programs. You will work closely with the Corporate level digital transformation leads, collaborate with peer domains (Sea, Space, land), Chief Engineers, Program Managers, and other engineers and Government counterparts to perform and manage a variety of systems and digital engineering tasks including developing the Digital Engineering architecture, supporting the computational and software infrastructure, and performing software integration to connect and modernize the engineering process.
The Leidos airborne digital engineering approach includes the following baseline domains: Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE); a series of system analysis tools including a Fluids, Thermal, electrical wiring and schematics, CAD, stress, reliability, logistic models; a future 6DoF capability; Windchill Product Data Management (PDM); and domain tools such as mCAD, eCAD, and trajectory optimization. The DE Lead will identify use cases where integration of these tools will improve the lifecycle development of airborne system while identifying other tools across the enterprise that add value into the Digital Engineering Architecture. A detailed understanding of airborne development and mission system integration analysis and design will be key for the Digital Engineering lead to prioritize capability integration within the toolchain.
Primary Responsibilities
Responsible for managing the Digital Engineering Architecture for Leidos airborne programs including: integration of engineering tools and workflows; configuration management of data within the DE Ecosystem; identification of new tools and domains to integrate which provide value to the program.
Interface with government personnel, facility technical and programmatic information exchange, and participate in Working Groups and IPTs
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering, systems engineering, or related technical field with at least 17+ years of experience. Masters with 15+ years of prior relevant experience or Doctorate with 13 plus years of prior relevant experience. (Additional years of experience in lieu of degree will be considered.)
Active DoD Secret security clearance, with ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance
Demonstrable knowledge of systems engineering and integration concepts and applying these concepts to Department of Defense programs
Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with customer representatives, domain experts, and other systems engineers in the development of complex DoD systems
Demonstrated ability to diagnose complex system problems and develop innovative solutions
Demonstrated ability to participate in cross-functional planning, coordination, and task execution situations involving the full spectrum of system integration activities
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree
Engineering software language experience with Python, Java, R, or any other engineering relevant language
Experience in a Modeling and Simulation, Design of Experiments, or statistical analysis of performance predictions
Experience with employing MBSE approaches and tools (Cameo Systems Modeler preferred)
Sharepoint and SQL Development
Pay Range:
Pay Range $144,300.00 - $260,850.00
