  SUMMARY:

  The Diesel Mechanic plays an important role in maintaining and repairing our fleet of loaders, haul trucks, excavators, track type machines, commercial trucks and other miscellaneous equipment throughout the sites.

  ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  Make routine inspections, document inspections and repairs in our CMMS program.

  Ability to complete diagnostics, troubleshoot and complete repairs to all types of heavy equipment including but not limited to: hydraulic systems, motors, transmissions, drives, and electrical systems. (Continuous dealer training provided).

  Perform scheduled preventative maintenance. Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment.

  Run tests after making repairs or performing maintenance to make sure that the equipment is in good safe working order before returning to duty.

  Prioritize and schedule repairs and maintenance to reduce or eliminate equipment down time.

  Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt while controlling costs by deciding if a repair needs to be outsourced or done in house for a timely and cost effective turn around.

  Performs duties in accordance with all company safety rules and MSHA/OSHA guidelines.

  Maintains a safe and clean workshop.

  Comply with all company policies and procedures.

  Other duties as assigned.

  QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  Knowledge of trucks and heavy equipment repairs with 5+ years’ experience preferred.

  Commercial Driver License’s preferred.

  Willing to work outside in all types of weather when and if needed.

  Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  Ability to detect all technical malfunctions on diesel equipment.

  Ability to work overtime as needed.

  Ability to lift 50 pounds.

  Must possess the ability to solve mechanical and electrical problems quickly and independently while working in a team based environment.

  Vocational/Technical school or training a plus.

  Experience with using OEM diagnostic software to troubleshoot issues.

  WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  Perform all work in accordance with YBP Safety policies.

  The work is performed outdoors and/or indoors, enduring heat, cold, rain, dust, wind, and other elements.

  Capable of operating various types of heavy equipment and/or machinery.

  PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES:

  Physical demands include but are not limited to walking, sitting, bending, stooping, and lifting – 50 pounds minimum.ADDITIONAL INFO:
