Position Overview:
The Engineering Manager for Horizon's Development Experience team will lead a talented group of engineers dedicated to enhancing the development experience for a large internal ecosystem of next-generation web apps and services. This role is central to ensuring that our engineering teams have the best tools, practices, and environments to build, deliver, and operation outstanding creative products.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership: Manage, mentor, and grow a team of software engineers and ensure they have the necessary resources to succeed.Strategy: Develop a clear vision and strategy for the Developer Experience team that aligns with company goals.Collaboration: Work closely with other engineering teams to gather feedback and continuously improve the internal developer experience.Tooling: Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of internal tools, frameworks, and platforms.Process: Streamline development processes and workflows to boost efficiency, quality, and developer happiness.Evaluation: Continuously assess the effectiveness of our development tools and practices, ensuring they are best-in-class.Education: Advocate for and provide training on best practices, new tools, and processes.Hiring: Assist in hiring and onboarding new members for the Developer Experience team.Budget Management: Oversee the team's budget, ensuring effective use of resources.
Qualifications:
Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field. Master's degree preferred.Industry Experience: 5+ years of software development experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial or leadership role.Development Tools: Proficiency in using and managing source control tools such as Git (specifically platforms like GitHub, Bitbucket, and GitLab).CI/CD Knowledge: Hands-on experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment tools like Jenkins, CircleCI, Travis CI, and GitHub Actions. Familiarity with container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes is a plus.Developer Productivity Tools: Experience with developer productivity and collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, Slack, and VS Code extensions or plugins.Improving Workflows: Demonstrated experience in enhancing developer workflows, collaborative code management, tooling, and enterprise automation.Communication Skills: Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to understand and articulate complex technical issues.Team Management: Proven track record of managing and mentoring engineering teams.
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay range for this positionis $123,000 -- $256,400 annually. Paywithin this range varies by work locationand may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills,and experience. At Adobe, for sales roles starting salaries are expressed as total target compensation (TTC = base + commission), and short-term incentives are in the form of sales commission plans. Non-sales roles starting salaries are expressed as base salary and short-term incentives are in the form of the Annual Incentive Plan (AIP).
In addition, certain roles may be eligible for long-term incentives in the form of a new hire equity award.
