  Job Overview

  The Development Associate for Athletics is a member of the athletic development team and works with colleagues within both the Office of Advancement and the Athletic Department to support the team’s efforts in developing a donor pipeline and promoting a culture of gratitude.

  They provide high level administrative and strategic support to the athletic development team, assisting with portfolio review, maintenance, and strategy; identifying and researching potential donors to the university; and providing full-spectrum support to development officers. As well, they provide weekly gift reports and work collaborate with the Associate Director of Athletics Engagement/Stewardship regarding weekly gift acknowledgement.

  The Development Associate works closely with the athletic development team to support events, stewardship activities, and board communications. They also provide general development support and assistance for the development team, including budget oversight and reporting, contact reports and strategies, and special and group project management. As well, they are responsible for the gift process: entering and tracking asks, proposals, gift agreements, statement of intents, and gift transmittal forms.

  The diversity of the Development Associate’s workload requires teamwork, flexibility, efficiency, attention to detail, external relations focus, and the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines for a wide variety of assignments. They must employ tact, diplomacy and confidentiality in dealing with members of the University community and the University's donors.

  Work Interactions

  Reporting to the Senior Director of Development for Athletics, the Development Associate works closely with - though not limited to - development officers and other advancement colleagues, the Advancement Stewardship team, and Advancement Gift Administration.

  They collaborate with colleagues in the Department of Athletics, including coaches, and staff in the Marketing, Ticketing, Sports Information, Business and Compliance offices; and work with both internal and external constituents and must be highly detail-oriented.

  The level of confidential information handled, the Development Associate must employ careful judgment and discretion; and the diversity of workload requires their flexibility, efficiency and the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines for a wide variety of assignments.

  The Development Associate communicates directly with donors and - in all that they do - works to build a culture of gratitude and ensures that donors are appreciated, recognized, informed and engaged.

  Work Mode

  Requirements and Qualifications

  Bachelor’s degree

  0-2 years of work experience, including internship experience - preferably in a development/fundraising environment.

  Superior organizational skills and proven experience in working independently

  Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Suite and Google Suite

  Broad knowledge of and experience in the use of research materials, including the internet and online informational databases

  Ability to work efficiently and effectively, at times under tight deadlines

  Strong problem-solving abilities, excellent attention to detail, the ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative as appropriate

  Understanding and practice a high standard of confidentiality and ethical information collection

  Highly developed interpersonal, written, and oral communications skills

  Strong collaborative and project management skills, and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects

  Bility to effectively manage projects that are both data-driven and relationship-driven
