Development Analysis Specialist
Job Description:
Steelhead Development
Vestas's renewable development arm for North America, Steelhead Americas, has a growing development pipeline over 43GW of early stage wind and wind/solar hybrid projects and is looking for a Development Specialist to join our team.
The Steelhead development pipeline consists of wholly owned development assets and co-development partnerships ranging from early-stage projects to build-transfer obligations. The Steelhead Development Specialist position requires internal quantitative and qualitative analysis to support project development related business decisions and growth strategy. By combining a deep interest in energy along with an understanding of markets, policy, and economics the Development Specialist will enable Steelhead success in execution and aid in its rapid growth.
Responsibilities:
Perform project, power marketing, M&A, energy markets, and policy analysisSupport business development efforts through pitch deck creation, research, data analysis, and partner engagementsIdentify promising locations for future wind and solar projectsBuild financial models to understand overall project financesBuild and test various offtake structuresQuantify impact of external market factors such as economic incentives, supply chain price volatility, environmental restrictions, and federal/state/local governmental rules as it may impact company and project financialsAssist with due diligence of development project acquisitionsConduct offtake research in terms of both specific commercial and industrial opportunities and broader market trendsMaintain flexibility to assist in various aspects of the development process when neededAct as a conduit between the development team and subject matter expertsChallenge the conventional wisdom, test new ideas, remain curious
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or Masters-level educationExperience working in energy and a basic understanding of energy markets preferredA deep passion in furthering the energy transition to renewable sources
Competencies:
Ability to learn quickly with little direction within a quickly growing, small teamComfort with math, research, and making predictions amid uncertain conditionsSystem skills - Microsoft Office, CRM database, GIS, Alteryx, etc.Curiosity, passion, attention to detail, leader, strategic thinker, high degree of flexiblyExperience in financial and quantitative modeling preferredAdvanced communication and organizational skills, oral and written, and interpersonal interaction.Ability to assimilate technical information and translate that into appropriate business decisions.
