The Rail Transit group at Mott MacDonald is growing and is involved with several key rail development projects on the West Coast, specifically in Seattle, the Bay Area, Los Angeles, and San Diego. This provides excellent opportunities for rail and transit engineering and construction management staff to further their career and work to deliver transformational projects across North America with a focus on the West Coast.Position description:This role encompasses deputizing the role of the resident engineer delivering construction management services to clients predominantly in Seattle, Washington. In this role you will use your personality and drive to ensure that project delivery teams engage appropriately with client and contractor stakeholders to deliver a properly integrated and assured project. Deputized duties may include:Interpretation of contract terms, requirements and specifications for rail and transit projectsManagement of process for review of contractor plans, procedures, technical submittals and schedules for compliance with contract requirements with the support of subject matter expertsIdentification and evaluation of technical and project management risks on complex rail infrastructure projects and development of practical mitigation plansProvide leadership and technical support to estimators in the development of detailed cost estimates for design and construction of transit projectsProvide leadership and technical support to schedulers in the development of detailed critical path method schedules for the design and construction of transit projectsAdministration of construction contract change management processes including negotiation of time and cost adjustments on behalf of the clientReview and approval of contractor payment applicationsManagement of project relationships between interfacing construction management and technical specialists to build collaborative teamsLead efficient resolution of integration and requirements challenges with due consideration to program, technical and commercial factorsProvide technical and management expertise in support of other business needs such as recruiting business development and preparation of proposals in response to procurement solicitationsCandidate SpecificationWe want you to have a desire to make a difference in the world and share our values. We are looking for candidates with the following characteristics:Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or similar technical fieldMinimum 10 years' experience managing integrated delivery of complex railway systems projectsMinimum 15 years' experience on transportation delivery projectsRegistration as a professional engineer preferredExperience in the leadership and development of construction management or engineering teamsTechnical knowledge of traction power, railway signaling / train control and integrated communications systemsProven experience in the identification and resolution of integration and requirements conflicts between various stakeholdersAbility to develop strong collaborative and productive relationships across organizational boundariesMethodical approach to problem solving and the ability to use your initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently on multiple assignmentsAbility to identify, define and control
