  Morgan Stanley Fund Services Inc. seeks an Associate in Purchase, NY

  Act as a single point of contact for family office clients and high net-worth individuals with significant investments in hedge funds and private equity funds. Prepare financial reporting solutions for the family office in accordance with GAAP, and provide accounting work papers for month-end financial statements and deliverables reviewing. Responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of client deliverables and reporting from the accounting services team. Review financial statements with a variety of financial products including but not limited to mutual funds, private equity funds, direct investments, options and hedge funds. Review and ensure timely delivery of audited financial statements. Review and understand key organizational documents and entity setup. Assist client conversion teams and implement alternative investment accounting principles. Coordinate with global colleagues across various groups to identify and implement solutions to accounting problems and leverage firm resources as appropriate to strengthen the control environment. Respond to and coordinate inquiries relating to partnership accounting and individual and estate taxation. Enhance controls and manage operational risk for the business.

  Salary: Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $130,000 and $130,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.

  QUALIFICATIONS

  Requirements:

  Requires a Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field of study and three (3) years of experience in the position offered or three (3) years as an Accountant, Analyst, or a closely related occupation. Requires three (3) years of experience with: working for a family office, wealth manager, asset manager, fund administrator, or public accounting firm; serving high-net-worth clients, Principals, and Senior Executives; family offices, complex hedge funds, fund of funds, and private equity funds; product types including private investments, derivatives, fixed income, equity instruments, and intra-family loans/notes; accounting, tax and regulatory reporting for Private Foundations, Trusts, and GRATs; GAAP financial statement reporting requirements; hedge fund investor and accounting concepts including partnership accounting, and accounting for complex management and incentive fee; family office organizational charts and formation agreements; Tax knowledge and experience in HNW individual, family partnerships, trusts, and charitable entities; tax and accounting aspects of alternative investments including valuation, gain/loss, and K-1s; high-net-worth individual and entity tax projection and planning; family office topics including life insurance, estate planning, and real estate; interpreting complex data; portfolio accounting processes; family office accounting and tax software; Microsoft Office including Excel.
