Role: Compliance Systems Technical BA / Specialist
Investment Compliance Engineering Team
The Investment Compliance Engineering Team is a globally distributed group responsible to deliver and manage custom software solutions to the Investment Management Surveillance business unit. These systems are primarily responsible for trade surveillance and guideline monitoring.
The successful candidate will be a highly motivated team player and will have previous experience within the financial services compliance sector combined with a technology skillset.
The key responsibilities of this role are to:
-Provide a primary IT contact point for the Surveillance business team
-Acknowledge and formulate/coordinate responses to enquiries
-Troubleshooting data and functionality issues encountered in vendor and in-house applications
-Coordinating request/issue prioritization and liaison with appropriate internal and external technical teams
-Expectation management and ensuring timely resolution to issues.
-Requirements gathering and analysis for new enhancements and upgrades
-Deputy for management of development team when required
-Assist with ad-hoc report compilation for IT management and business unit
-Provide second line support for escalated issues from first line ASG team
Other duties may include:
-Participating in system design and code reviews
-Knowledge sharing of new technologies / compliance initiatives across the global team
-Occasional out of hours / weekend support for high priority issues and/or application upgrade releases scheduled

QUALIFICATIONS
Key skills required:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the Investment Management business
- Good understanding of financial instruments and compliance terminology
- Experience with a common industry compliance software platform
- Hands-on SQL experience to troubleshoot data issues with the ability to quickly identify and rectify the root cause of issues
- Capability to review Java and Python code with respect to understanding data handling in detail, beyond system documentation provision
- Analytical Skills, to be able to understand a complex business domain; process behaviors (job schedulers, file feed and data dependencies, and systems troubleshooting.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to keep calm under pressure
Optional Skills:
- Experience with Ion/Fidessa Sentinel compliance platform advantageous
- Development skills in Java/Spring, Python, SQL.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $140,000 and $200,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
