DAYCARE HELPER
Homes for the Homeless, Inc is seeking a warm and capable Daycare Helper to help provide primary care and a comfortable learning environment for children 2-5 years old. The Helper assists a team of teachers by maintaining the supplies and environment, and by helping guide children through lessons, Our Early Childhood Center is located in a new facility housing families and children experiencing homelessness. Because we serve some of the city's most vulnerable children, we keep a small classroom size and look for a staff of team players who exude a calming, consistent presence.
ABOUT HOMES FOR THE HOMELESS, INC
Homes for the Homeless, Inc. (HFH) is a non-profit social services organization operating family shelters throughout NYC that serve as a hub of opportunity for families both residing in shelter as well as those in the neighboring community. On-site programs range from childcare, early childhood education centers, afterschool clubs and programs, and youth recreation activities, such as sports teams, to housing assistance, case management, parenting workshops, career and job vocational training, support groups and substance abuse assistance, and family engagement and recreation events for the whole family.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Open the center and assist with attendance and sign-ins.
• Clean center including cubbies, cots, bookcases, bathroom, and laundry.
• Complete daily cleaning log.
• Provide teachers with assistance throughout the day.
• Complete pre-planned activities.
• Serve meals and snacks.
QUALIFICATIONS
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to lift at least 40 pounds.
• Ability to sit on the floor, bend, and pick up children through the course of an 8-hour shift.
• Must be able to work an 8am-4pm shift.
