The Ops engineering Team is responsible for management of critically important databases under Data Services .This includes software installation, configuration, Migrations and Upgrades, Patching and Refresh, Incident and Problem management, troubleshooting, Backup/Restore/Recovery of databases across multiple technologies including Oracle, Mongo, MySQL, Vertica etc. These databases are deployed across BareMetal, AWS and Kubernetes.

5 - 7 Years of relevant experience. Flexible working in rotational shift model. Proven understanding of database concepts, troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills. Good experience in Oracle architecture, memory and background processes. Good hands-on exposure to Oracle High Availability including DataGuard/FSFO/Golden Gate/RAC/ASM. Expertise in Oracle 19c Configuration and Administration. Experience in handling Mongo DB environments - Sharded and Non-Sharded Clusters. Experience in OPS manager and MongoDB upgrades. Experience in automation/DevOps using Jenkins. Good experience in MySQL Percona distribution Strong Unix Internals and experience in automation in one or more scripting languages - Shell/Python/Perl. Good knowledge of SQL and PLSQL. Strong analytical and critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, solid collaboration skills.

We are looking to hire extraordinary individuals to join the Global Data Services team as DB Operations Engineer. In this role you will help build and run the database platform that delivers Apple services to all of its customers around the world and help us build the Apple experience on a global scale! The expectations from the job position would be: - Build, maintain and continuously support a high performance and highly available database infrastructure. - Experience in regular DBA tasks including health checks, solving issues and maintenance. - Support various database maintenance activities like Database Upgrades, Patch Management, User Management and backups. - Setup and support Golden Gate Active-Active replication environments for databases within and across geographic locations. - Setup and support Oracle Data Guard FSFO for high availability and implement zero data loss solution. - Experience in MongoDB Sharding and Replication concepts. - Experience in Ops Manager installation and monitoring setups. - MongoDB backup and recovery from Ops Manager. - Experience in TLS and SSL configuration setups. - Build, maintain and supervise MySQL Primary/Replica including Percona Clusters. - Support various load tests from Application teams during ramp up period. - Identify avenues for automation for mundane and recurring database tasks and implement automated solutions. - Implement industry-wide standard methodologies and daily health checks within host server and database environments. - Take ownership for fast-paced, sophisticated and distributed database environments supporting OLTP systems across multiple platforms. - Fix sophisticated technical problems under pressure, implement solutions that are massively scalable, while handling multiple customer groups.

Experience in Vertica DB will be valued. Experience with public clouds (GCP & AWS) highly desirable. Knowledge on Kubernetes is a plus.

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $116,100 and $208,300 annualized, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
